Rear Wheel Removal Tip

What is that “hump” in the tire.

This is a cross-section of the rim, not the tire,..

The hump in my tire is just the flop in my sidewall because it isn't installed.

@PCeBiker knows. Those rims are tight and precise. Most pedal race bikes have them with carbon rims and $2,000 wheel sets. You push the tire edge bead into the center to give wiggle room to take it on or off. The center indent allows for this. You do one side, say the disc side first, flip and do the other. Pumping it will make it loudly pop as it locks the tire's bead in to the hook or crotch. The hump helps the bead stay to one side or the other as you work it. It is a channel.
So it is not a sealed hump but allows air on both above and below it, correct? Also, am I to assume this is for tubeless mounting?

Kenda are low to mid quality tires. Schwalbe are premium tires. That's my take.
Well I would have to fit 2 Swabbe’s side by side on my 4” wheels 🤣🤣
Seriously I wish they made a 4” Tire They are 60 ct and smoother than kenda’s 30ct but not quite as durible. Like a Rolls Royce vs a Willis Jeep from what I read.

I would not categorize Kenda as low quality. Awards aren't the end all but the tire is respectable.
And there's many more if you care

The Kenda Cursor seems to be the best 4” choice for my mostly road use. Wanda Tire I bought that has issues that occurred when trying to install (sidewall buckling) and the dealer stating “I have sold 1000 of these and no one else has ever complained” sent me an email wanting a review…REALLY???? lol
They wanted me to send them a photo, however I had already put the original back on and since only occurs when trying to install and the fact I am NOT removing the original now to take photos I am basically eating the cost.

Well, the Kenda Curser seems to be the best choice of 4” Tires for me.
I can't guarantee that it will be perfect for you... But from my experience that would be at the top of my list with the limited selection of multi purpose tires with good pavement characteristics for 4" fat tire.

And more important than awards...

Past performance is no guarantee of future gains

Racers ride what they are given.

Kenda tires are not cheap junk. I've had some bad ones out of the box. I have not had a bad Schwalbe out of the box. Defend your brand all you like. I have no skin in this game.

True... But if they can win it says something about quality.
Not my brand now as I'm riding schwalbe and am very happy. But I wasn't disappointed using them in the past and buying direct the service/delivery was excellent.
Kenda also makes sizes that others do not and it is a good tire especially when compared to some cryptic off brand that sells 1 or 2 tires from a generic tire manufacturer.
I see no sense in recommending a brand that doesn't sell the size needed

ymmv

Gionnirocket, I think they will do well from what I read here and on the internet concerning Kenda Tires. With a thread count of 30 they are not meant to be as soft and smooth as the scwabbe with a thread count of 60. To me, anything has got to be better than knobby’s on pavement. If I was solely or mostly doing dirt trails Snobby’s are great.

Kenda offers one tire for 26”x4” wheel. Why do they not seem to have a tube to fit? I increased the tire pressure from 16- 20psi and bike had better control and less noise yesterday. Doesn’t seem too bad on street now. I just need to clean and lubricate the chain.

Actually they have a few but only one street tread... again this is a relatively new market

I just sent a memo to corporate on this matter.

But they're on sale and the coupon is still valid.

Cursor, Juggernaut, Crusade, yes, but I do not find a 26”x4.0” tube for their tire is my concern

You can use your existing tubes.... they're relatively new.
But yes I like to have a pair of spares at home. Maybe try giving them a call but you'll probably have to look elsewhere.

Not a big deal really, I just found it curious they do not show them. On another note, I hate getting some things (tires etc) off Amazon because I get the feeling from the reviews the 3rd party companies that actually have store front business may be peddling off returns that had issues on Amazon. Not every one but enough to raise caution flags.
If so, they are not exclusively doing this but maybe a very few at a time so as to not raise alarm with most people. I guess I have the bad habit of reading the 1 an 2 star reviews first then weighing them as to how many as compared to 3,4, and 5 start.

You know after trying to put those Wanda tires on that were labeled 26”x4” they just did not look 4” wide but maybe 3” including the tubes also. Last night I mentioned those tires to my wife and she said “those are not 4” tires. Now I know I am not seeing things. But if so how was they getting by with selling them as 4”? The guy was irate and stated “I have sold a 1000 of those tires and no one has mentioned the problem you are having.

Your wife seems to be very familiar with 4 inches and what's not 🤣
Well it's pretty easy to confirm the tires size and there should be a measurable difference between 3 and 4in. You can inflate the tube inside the tire until it's snug so that it sits more uniform to help measure accurately.
A riding partner changed his from 4 to 3 and it was very obvious. He hates it but his are labeled correctly and were so on the website he bought them from. His complaint is that they don't ride as soft but I actually think it makes his huge Wired Freedom look more sleek. It sits lower too making it easier to mount.
I told him to reduce the pressure but he's in the camp of more is always better. I had recommended the Kenda to him as well but he liked the graphics on the tire he bought.

We are talking diameter not length lol I did inflate the tube inside the tire to check diameter and appears to be 3 in not 4.
Get your head out of the gutter ;)
I took the tires and tubes to Goodwill this morning. Cleaning things up around house and cleaned and lubricated the chain and checked spoke tightness.
