Pondering a Riese Muller purchase and could use some guidance

I currently have a Tern GSD S00 LX which i love but I really want to buy a second ebike for my wife which i can use as well. I want another bike so we can ride together although she’s against the principle of an ebike. She doesn’t like the GSD as it’s too bulky especially with the 2 kids on back. I am itching to get a RM and am trying to decide between the Nevo, Homage and Multicharger which are all step through models. I’m thinking the Multicharger is too similar to the GSG although that’s the one I really want. I want a bike that i can also use to go on rides by myself after work when nobody wants to go with me. I think the Nevo is probably best bet but then i test rode the Homage and wow. I originally was against a high speed motor but I’m beginning to second guess myself. I tend to overthink most decisions and this one is no different especially at around $9,000 purchase. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
 
  • Multicharger : No. As you said, it's too similar to your GSD which your wife does not like.
  • Nevo : Yes. Definitely the best city ebike I've ridden. Very approachable, especially for anyone shorter than average.
  • Homage : Yes. Don't go past it if you want a superb step-through adventure-oriented ebike.
Remember:
  • Nevo : Small, Medium, Large
  • Homage : Medium, Large, Extra Large

Thanks everyone for your help and validation. I think the Nevo3 is definitely the best choice. I really don’t like the aesthetics of the battery cover being on top of down tube rather than bottom like on the Homage. Since I’m leaning towards a white bike whereas it would blend on a black bike. I am also torn on buying something in stock with a 625wh battery versus ordering a new 750wh but then waiting 6 months. Patience is not my strong suit. Then if I decided to order then the Homage comes into play since they (propel) only have 54cm in stock which is too large for my wife. We live at the beach in NJ (the Philly part not NY) and it’s flat. The longest ride would be 18 miles max.

I'll second that. Although I am not an R&M e-bike rider, I found I could ride e-bikes for long distances pretty soon and with great pleasure. With the first metric century ridden just 7 months after I acquired my first e-bike...
 
In November I travelled to Propel (Brooklyn), about 4 hrs from my home. I asked to try a Charger 3 and a Supercharger 2. My "matchmaker" was riding a Nevo 3. I never took the Supercharger out of the shop; It's weight/height was too much for me to tilt it to mount (I'm 77). So I went out on the Charger 3, which was fine, although mounting/dismounting was still of concern. The Propel representative suggested I try her Nevo 3. Between the easy accessibility and Enviolo shifter, I was won over. Of course then my impatience kicked in. They had a high speed two battery model (red), Enviolo, in stock. They shipped it to me a few weeks later. I have taken several rides in cold weather and can say I have no regrets. The bike handles and performs beautifully. I also had to purchase a carrier. I went with the Thule Easyfold XT. I'm very satisfied with that carrier with one exception: the loading ramp. Many reviewers have complained about the ramp length. It's a valid concern but it can be made to work. The real challenge is attaching the ramp to the carrier; it's VERY difficult. I've written to Thule to see if there's a trick to this, but no answer so far. Realize this may be too late to inform your decision, but hopefully might help someone grappling with the same decision.
 
So after ordering from Propel the Nevo3 they informed me a couple weeks later that the bike they shipped from their CA store to NY store had a defective motor. Then they shipped another and later informed me it had a dual battery but I only wanted single battery as I don’t like the look or battery on rear rack. I requested a refund which they granted. Now i am really wanting a Homage and regret not ordering from the factory on my initial visit 6 weeks ago. Also considering a Tern HSD but I don’t like the weaker motor choices or Enviolo Automatiq with better motor. Was also thinking of a Gazelle Ultimate 380+
 
I don’t think any person could dislike riding a Homage. They are superb. My wife has one and swears by it. I have a Superdelite Mountain and my next R&M will almost certainly be a Homage (probably many years away as my SD Mountain is just right for me now at age 55).
 
Get yourself a Homage and her a Load 75 and she can carry the kids in the box instead of on the back of the GSD. 😁
 
Still love my SC2 but sneaking off tomorrow morning to pick up my new eMTB:
