New Vado 5

Yup, I have sport set to 50/50, great for wind!

In fact wind is one of the main reasons I love ebikes. We have a lot of it in FL, and a strong headwind is just brutal on an unpowered bike...
Yes. Riding into the wind is like riding up a steep hill that never ends. Riding my acoustic bike last year one time, I ended up drafting behind my wife on her e-bike!

A month ago I was in a group ride with a bunch of seniors. Half the riders were on ebikes-I was riding my regular Specialized Diverge carbon. I got tired of riding at their pace and took off. I got so far ahead of them I could no longer see the LED headlights from the ebike riders.
While cruising along, at around 27kph, on a long, straight road I could see a headlight way, way back gaining on me. I maintained my speed and within a couple of minutes that rider I'd seen way back had caught up to me.
The rider, who is 82 years old, was on a Specialized Vado 5. This is one impressive ebike.

Sorry, but the vado is about as exciting as burnt toast.

I suppose that ultimately, it's all in what you want the bike to do for you. If you want an ebike that will help you with your road racing or even cross country competitions, you're right, the Vado isn't very exciting; it's just the wrong bike. But for the target market and more, it is the right ebike. At my stage in life I'm not sure I would call finding the right product for my needs exciting, but it is definitely more interesting than burnt toast.
