Hi,
Is Park Tool PPL-2 safe to use in an ebike motor that has some residue left from the original white grease?
PPL-2 is a darker green thick'ish type of grease.

I'm replacing a bad 500w with a spare and swapping a 750 to another wheel. Both seem dry inside. No local stores have the correct grease, but the bike shop gave me a spoonful of Park Tool PPL-2 (same as PPL-1, but in a tub instead of tube). I'm hesitant to put it in because of the difference.

Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

I find NGLI #2 grease to be too heavy. Thinner lithium grease like lubriplate is generally not stocked anywhere. The lithium soap thickener is used to prevent meltout, which is a problem in car bearings & lawnmower quill bearings but not IMHO bicycle gears. I use petroleum jelly, in $3 containers from the dollar store. The bearings in a bicycle motor are sealed, at least the 4 I have opened.
