So a total of 9,600 bike crashes in 2022, and of those a fraction were e-bike crashes, and of those 4 e-bike crashes were fatal. Don’t get me wrong, fatalities are fatalities, but it’s hardly an alarming statI recall and a reminded of the youthful enthusiast in Manitoba who invented 'Zip Tie Cruse Control'. He thought it was the greatest. He zip tied his throttle at full open, leaving it there. And he would shut it off by hitting a brake cut-out lever. Then we suddenly never heard from him again. The implication is that he got himself self-weeded from the genepool garden. I am taking the CHP Electric Bike Safety and Certification Class today. Cut-out levers are a known point of failure.
