Looking for a Canadian E Bike Retailer

After much research I have decided it is just not cost effective to purchase an ebike from the US. By the time the $1,799 US bike reaches me in Canada it will cost me $3,700 CAD. Now while I understand there is nothing I can do about the weak dollar and sales tax, this still leaves almost $1,000 in duty and shipping fees. So can any Canadian members recommend a retailer preferably with free shipping in the Great White North. I am looking for a commuter or cruiser style with a budget of approx $3,000 CAD tax in.

Pedego is good with a proprietary mid drive, Ohm are in Vancouver and have a cult following, Cit-E-cycles in Vancouver, Surface604 are popular, as Ravi said Biktrix and Amego and Amego comes with Virginia:), as Calico pointed out Voltbike, there's one in Montreal I can't think of it, Court just tested one. I just looked....it's Velec.
Good Luck.

Opus are a Canadian brand and have a few ebike models under three grand https://www.opusbike.com/en/bikes/5-electric.html A retailer near you lists Opus as one of their brands so you might ask if they could order in one to demo http://spokesnslopes.plujoextended.com/brands or there are a lot of Opus dealers in Toronto like Cyclemania who also are a dealer for Quebec ebike brands EVox http://www.cyclemaniatoronto.ca/bikes.html & (Link Removed - No Longer Exists) and Evo https://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/2a6b82_86e2d7cbaac34708bc2f17655207cd09.pdf

Never looked at that Brand, some interesting bikes.

I got to trial a Gazelle with Shimano Steps motor last summer and liked it, I’d recommend the OP test ride an Opus ebike with that motor.

Anyone here own a Magnum Metro+ or the Cruiser model. Epic Cycle north of Toronto carries their line. https://epiccycles.ca/ Best Buy chain also carried them at the same price point but I would prefer to deal with a small biz.

Surface 604 or Voltbike

Amego offers a 15% discount on their brands if you are registered with Uber Eats delivery. 10% off on all other brands. They also offer free delivery. Thinking seriously about the Amego Infinite now...

I'm not Canadian -but anybody south of I-70 who hears me speak assumes I am since the Wisconsin accent still lingers.
I have a Magnum Cruiser and love it. I use it for pleasure riding - not commuting - the range is good and I really like the crankset placement which is very easy on my knees.

Thanks Steve. I should have specified I want a traditional cross bar for strength...not a step thru
Yeah me too ,although there will come a time for us all when we need a step thru. How about the Colt or the Shred or this one? (Link Removed - No Longer Exists)

Not sure the numbers are correct. USD 1,799 is ~ CAD 2,450 on credit card. Plus shipping. Tax you'll pay whether you buy in the US or in Canada. When you bring it from the US, Canadian sales tax is charged at the border. When you buy "in" the US, you pay local state sales tax.

Need to specify the drive type.

$1,799US converts to $2,378.46 CAD + $349.40 HST TAX + $309.20 DUTY + $600 SHIPPING =$3,637.06 CAD
I can save $900+on Duty & Shipping by purchasing from a Canadian supplier and use that money towards lock, helmet, panniers and theft insurance. Maybe some Monkey lights for the wheels...lol
It's a 500W rear Hub Motor
