We’re excited to introduce the New Photon Pro, back in its third production run! This e-bike is a trio of long-range performance, ultra-low maintenance, and reliability.

At the core of the Photon Pro is a belt-drive system paired with an internal gear hub, delivering smooth rides with minimal upkeep. This setup means you spend more time riding and less time worrying about maintenance. We’ve added a effortlessly powerful 750W 52V custom built mid-drive motor and a long-range 1040 Ah 52V battery to keep you going further and longer.

After 2 production runs and a year of intense prototype testing, we can confidently say the Photon Pro offers a seamless, worry-free ride every time. It’s built for those who demand the best in performance and durability.

Some of our shipments have been late but we have never missed anyone's order so far. We refuse to ship sub-standard products, and we have actually refunded some customer's money because of tight timelines. Many of our customers have been very understanding, and we are grateful to them.
We listened to your feedback for this shipment and improved several items, such as the frame and bottom bracket gusset, to provide torsional stiffness.
Here are the improvements:
  • We increased the side wall thickness to 5mm (from 3.5mm), providing excellent stiffness at the cost of being slightly heavier. (Image below)
  • We added a new gusset at the motor hanger to ensure the step-through frame doesn't flex.
  • We worked with our motor manufacturer to mass produce a 750W, 160Nm mid-drive that is suited for the US market.
  • New colors that look very nice in person
  • Maintaining full UL 2271 certification on the battery and charger, as usual, even with the added cost of tariffs for packs from China.
    We are now setting up our battery factory, and starting Q2-2025, all our batteries will be manufactured in our own factory with much more advanced BMS and pack design.

Folks,
Just to clarify, all bikes will be shipped within the legal regulation.
  • US customers will get the 750W version motor unless they ask for a 500W motor.
  • Canadian customers will get a 500W motor unless they specifically request something else for private road usage.
 
Nice bikes! the center mount display will make for better time winter riding for those who do(pogeys get in the way of the previous iteration, haven't put em on yet though, it's not even cold!) . How much heavier is the new version vs previous?
 
Kriti, that blue looks even better than I expected. Now I'm getting really excited to see my bike arrive. Any good news to share?

As a bike (now e-bike) commuter for many years, that bike checks all my boxes and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone looking. Thanks for putting so much thought into the design. I will plan on getting one in the near future. Love that you have a 3 year warranty! My first e-bike has held up much better than I expected although I am starting to see the battery range drop off.
 
Does this statement mean these will be the batteries with the new tab-less style cell design?
We are now setting up our battery factory, and starting Q2-2025, all our batteries will be manufactured in our own factory with much more advanced BMS and pack design.

A few Qs.

1) Will the integrated rear rack accept a MIK carrier plate? I see RackTime bag accessories but not clear to me if a carrier plate is needed for them or not.

2) What is the seat post diameter? I think it is 30.9mm. I have a 27.2mm eeSilk+ suspension post and they do sell adapters.

3) I probably don’t need to re-use my Vencum isolation stem with the front suspension, but anyway will it attach given it is for 1-18 inch steering post and 31.8mm handlebars?

4) Any thoughts on Tannus Armoir vs the spray in stuff? If purchased with the bike who install the Tannus Armour.. Not looking forward to peeling off the tires to install the Tannus if that is better than goo or just rolling the dice. Begs the question if the tubes are Schroeder or presta I guess.

Sorry, don't have any answers for you, but I've read very good things here about the Mr. Tuffy alternative to the Tannus liners.

Have 3,000 miles on Tannus liners now with 1 flat ~2,000 miles in. The cause was never found, but the Tannus foam had compressed down quite a bit by then. Didn't replace them, and no flats since, but not sure how much protection they're really providing at this point.

My sense is that the Tannus liners add a good bit of rolling resistance and rotational wheel inertia, making the bike feel less responsive. Some say the Mr. Tuffy liners are better on those fronts with equal or better protection, so I'll be trying them next.

I had Tuffy lines on my Stromer back in 2015 for about 5000 miles. One thing I learned the hard way was that if you don't chamfer the edges of the liner, it will bite into the tube and cause flats. I had 2 consecutive flats on some important days and a lot of headaches. Once I solved that, it was as good as Schwalbe Marathon plus tire. Tannus is also a great option and we have been using them on some of our test fleet.

I didn't know that.

I installed Tannus inserts then added Mr. Tuffy tire liners and ½ a liter of Flat-out sealant to each tire.
The Tannus inserts are between the tube and Tuffy liners though.
I've gone over 5000 km with no flats.

Now I want to check my tires to see if the liners chewed into my Tannus inserts?

My new e-bike has just the 27.5 X 2.8 Super Moto-X tires and Flat-out.
3500 km no flats.
I carry a patch kit and hand pump with my e-bike (the pump is a shock pump to adjust my shocks, and fills tires easier too.)


@Ravi Kempaiah I took your advice and bought Suntour air forks for my new e-bike,..

Then I broke the rack off carrying a second battery in the battery bag, so I installed a Topeak rear rack that I managed to stretch out way past spec to fit my fat bike frame, and put the second battery on the top tube using my homemade brackets. (polymorph plastic.)

@Ravi Kempaiah, I think you should make a full suspension e-bike.

I've got full suspension with 200 mm of travel up front, a suspension Suntour NCX seatpost, and a Spider flex spring seat with a gell seat cover.
It's one Very Cushy Ride !!

I can ride through 3" deep pot holes riding no-hands and my e-bike just floats right through it.

The Super Moto-X tires are great for road and hard pack, but don't fair too well in 8" deep ruts filled with mud and water. 😂

I found the same thing.
My Tannus inserts were completely squashed. One reviewer on Amazon posted a picture of a 9 mm long shard of glass that went through the tire and liner, and punctured his tube. (With a couple mm of it still in the tire.)


My sense is that the Tannus liners add a good bit of rolling resistance and rotational wheel inertia, making the bike feel less responsive. Some say the Mr. Tuffy liners are better on those fronts with equal or better protection, so I'll be trying them next.

The only real reason I bought the Tannus inserts, was because they say that you can ride on a flat tire at 5 mph without damaging anything, but that simply isn't the case, at least not with my first e-bike with 26 X 4.0 tires.
When I get a flat, the tire falls off the rim and gets jammed in the frame and the wheel won't rotate.
I'd have to carry the back end of the e-bike !!

So I installed the Flat-out and Mr. Tuffy tire liners as well.
I didn't want no damn flats!!
I don't care what my wheel weighs, or how it handles, as long as it keep rotating. 😂
 
Wow, all that foamy stuff and Tuffy tire liners are such a hassle. I have over 6000km on Schwalbe Marathon plus tires and no flats yet...knock on roadside wood for luck. While those other options are so promising, in the marketing area, they have weak links as Ravi has reported. Same experience I had. Give me a Schwalbe tire with the built in barrier any day.
