Just took the plunge and spent $1500+ on my first eBike build

Trek-BBS02

New Member
I've built motorized gasoline bikes in the past but needed something more stealthy (and I wanted to try something new).
My purchase list so far:

I recently found out that my bike has hydraulic brakes which aren't compatible with the stock Bafang brakes so I'll have to order the special ones, as well as a gear sensor as people have been telling me those are important.

Anybody have any tips, warnings, advice, etc for a new builder/rider?

I never thought a gear sensor was important for street riding. None on my BBS02 conversion.. The special BBS02 wrench is far better than a channel lock pliers, in my opinion.

My BBS02 installed easy except for coming loose because I didn't have the wrench. I have it now.

I too have built a number of gas bikes, some better than others. My ebike is such a joy to ride; I wish you best of luck
with your build, much better luck than I had with my first gas build.
