My SFM eBike came with a Shimano Nexus SG-3C41 Coaster Brake hub plus front & rear V-Brakes. While the coaster brake is a nice option for long downhill descents rather than staying on the brakes all the time, I miss not being able to free-wheel. The lack of a free-wheel hub is especially annoying when I have to stop and need to reposition the pedals and can't pedal backwards to do it. Or when trying to negotiate a tricky turn and not being able to get the pedals in exactly the right position to pedal through.
Although I haven't attempted this modification yet, I did manage to find a YouTube on what it takes to do a conversion. Unfortunately this video is not in English, but its well documented so it should be easy enough to follow along. You can also right-click your mouse to translate the text into English and of course add English subtitles to the video.
