Time to share a bit of motivation to get out there... Spring MTB riding is here!
Have to agree, the "Hotrodders" will place us under intense scrutiny by the "nanny state" I hope youtube has taken the videos down of EBIKE riders blasting by pets, kids and old Folks on walking trails(" it only takes a couple of bad apples to get the barrel rejected"- from the "Book of Silver")I doubt the US will get ebikes classed as bikes whilst "bigger is better" dominates your society.
( typed sitting on a balcony as the hordes of emtb riders prepare to be shuttled up the mountain)
How about-"Wuff,Wuff!" ( please don't get an old man started)Time to share a bit of motivation to get out there... Spring MTB riding is here!
“I decided to wander into my local bike shop”...
If I wandered into any bike shop and they had a MY21 Trance (mid-level) in small, I'd buy it on the spot.Well now I decided to wander into my local bike shop THE PATH, it's kind of famous, mountain bike specialists in the heart of Orange County. This is the place I found my Orbea Occam.
Low and behold, look what they had on display...a ORBEA RISE. And oh dear...along with it comes sticker-shock - $10,500. OUCH.
Well, it's a really nice looking bike, super slim and light, you can't even tell it's an ebike 'till you see the motor down below the frame. Nice coloring, kind of an off-white. They really build a nice bike.
Also surprising is they had a couple of 2020 Trance E's in stock, a S and a L. The S would fit the wife, and it was on sale for $3900. That's right, a brand new 2020 model with zero miles on it, discounted from $5600.
So I bought it for her. They're putting rekon and ikon tires on it and a rocket saddle. She can ride it on all terrain, from bike path, road, or trail. She's really excited. The E+1Pro for 2020 is the green and acid yellow one. WHOOT!
Congrats on her new ride... reminds me of the days when I used to casually wander into the local car dealer and bring home a surprise.Well now I decided to wander into my local bike shop THE PATH, it's kind of famous, mountain bike specialists in the heart of Orange County. Great score.I don't know how or where they find these bikes, but the 20 TranceE has been sold out for 6 months.
They had a bunch of eMTB's, Norco Site, Heckler, Orbea's, a Reign or two, couple new Fathoms. EVERYTHING was seven to ten grand. WOW!
Finding that size S Pro1 at that price was like finding a pot of gold. Plus her Amiti will fetch nearly new value on resale, so the investment is quite reasonable.
Don't think I didn't already eyeball that reservoir shock! LOL
First class componentry, they are a really solid bike. Yamaha all the way for me.
30mm wide rims for 2020! My 2019's are 35mm. 12spd now too, XT brakes.
Have you noticed she's sponsored by KROSS, a Polish bike/e-bike brand?Time to share a bit of motivation to get out there... Spring MTB riding is here!
I'm betting it's a typo in the specs. The E+2Pro is 35mm as are the rest of the trance-E's.@Browneye - congratulations! What a great buy for your wife!
Besides, rims in my 2020 Trance E+ 2 Pro are 35 mm wide.

Stance are "25mm ebike optimized tubeless ready". 29 though. More on this...
Well, you guys aren't gonna believe this...
Shop called, said it's ready. Wife drove down, we got lunch, went to the shop, they're dinking around, 'got pedals?'... we're charging it. Oh, and "it's a used bike, a customer return, so no warranty. Not sure if we can put it on your synchrony account". No problem. But wait, 'no warranty'? On a ebike? "It was already registered, and Giant doesn't transfer warranty." Oh boy, I blew my stack. "We'll warranty it for 30 days". Uh, no, not on a ebike. A regular bike I wouldn't care, but not an ebike.
For gods sakes. They put it in the line up with the new bikes, with a price tag sticker just like the new bikes. Wife doesn't have time to stand there and haggle over it. Never even got to try it. "Previous owner had a problem with the battery, decided on a different bike." Really?
Refunded deposit. I was seeing red. Lots of explanation, lots of excuses and apologies. They'll be lucky if I ever set foot in there again. This is NOT how you treat customers, let alone a repeat customer.
Went shopping on Giant.com - dealer 50 miles away has on 2021 Stance E+1 in M. MSRP $4550. "I'll take it."
'Desert Sage' 29-r. Turns out the 21 model has the 625w pack with sport motor - I'm good with all that. RockShox Recon - ok, SRAM Eagle 12, that's good, dropper post -check, size M, check.
We are slated to pick it up Saturday.

I believe it, sometimes its the customers fault because they bought something, service and knowledgeability "ain't er what She used to be".I'm betting it's a typo in the specs. The E+2Pro is 35mm as are the rest of the trance-E's.
