That's when I was just starting my research into light mountain bikes , it has been disqualified since then; my ultimate light/superlight emtb. list is on my posts on page 93.

It's still a very enjoyable e mountain bike no doubt about that , what matters is that u like it and enjoy it, but I'm just stating the facts and it is a fact that compared to the new crop of '21 offerings , it is a heavy e mountain bike.
The FACT is his trance is lighter than the new trance.

But it's bloated @55lbs , this is a forum thread for 2021 models , plus I'm a weightweenie and under 40lb emtbs. will be the norm .

I've begun to wonder why I pay as much attention to the eMTB class and world as I do.
Seems to me the eMTB genre drives much of the industry but around here ( this site ) there's a lot more 'SUV' type bike riders and and even greater number of 'commuter type' riders and 'cruisers'. Then there's the 'casual excursion' folks who don't do a lot of miles but still ride a lot. I'm sure there are more categories I'm not thinking of. My choice of a MTB type bike is as much driven by ego and life experience as it is truly choosing the best bike style for me. I'm so vain about it I won't buy a comfortable seat. At my age I realize the forward/semi-forward riding position is not going to work for me much longer. I hate this but I have to admit that in the not so distant future I will have to convert my bikes to a much more straight up sitting position. But that will make it much harder to ride the bad roads I ride. I may have to move somewhere where the roads are less rocky.

Nah, bigger suspension , fat tyres and more powah fixes everything. ( at least it'll break that vanity)

Added a few more MTB focused products for my MTB riding experiences.
Bodyprox elbow and knee pads off of Amazon.
They were only $20 CDN a pair and although they aren't super heavy duty, there are likely going to be times where I will l want a little something extra this year.
Also, as documented in other posts - a new lid.
Fox Speedframe Pro. Only one ride with it, but fits well and is going to be much cooler than my 10 year old Nutcase helmet.
Pretty good safety ratings as well.
I was considering a Bell Super Air R with the detachable chin bar, but too expensive (2x the price of the Fox and that was expensive too) and no stock anywhere to even try one on.

Maybe I'll watch the whole thing later...but this is reality. Some of the die-hard pedal-bikers refuse to even TRY a ebike. They know darn well they would get sucked in.
My BIL is about as hardcore as you can get, been riding for decades. I think he tried mine just cuz it was me. After a mile or so I caught up, saw that big grin on his face. "Wow, this could really extend my range". Well yeah, that's the idea.
Another friend that doesn't ride at all always does the finger-throttle motion when we talk about ebikes - like you don't even have to pedal. LOL
We just need the regulators to pull their head out of their you know what and treat class1 eMTB's the same as pedal bikes. They ride just the same on the trails, but the ebike just kicks butt on the uphills.

My two biking buddies saw the video and tried to imply (half heartedly) that I was "that guy", which I am not. Roadie buddy, could care less and is in fact trying to get his wife onto one. MTB buddy was sold a while ago, but can't make up his mind and loves tinkering and projects, so intends to add a Bafang kit to one of his many semi-ancient rigs.
I doubt the US will get ebikes classed as bikes whilst "bigger is better" dominates your society.
( typed sitting on a balcony as the hordes of emtb riders prepare to be shuttled up the mountain)

I think the US has a different perspective on Ebikes. for one thing they are allowing 750 watts of power.
I just watched a trailer get loaded with turbo levos / merida e160's etc. About 25 bikes, LOTS of couples in their 30's getting into a bus and heading up the mountain.
Enjoy those 750 wattever bikes
