Disable Throttle

I'm going to Mackinac Island in Michigan. I have a legitimate disability but need to prove that i've disabled the throttle on my Lectric XP in order to ride my bike on the island. There are no cars allowed on the island. only horseback electric scooters, and bicycles also special permission for bikes that operate with pedal assist (Class 1) only or Class 2 as long as the throttle has been disabled. I could cut the cord coming out of the throttle ... never use it anyway .... then reconnect later. Is there a better solution?

Just disconnect, remove from bike until later ? Enjoy the Island !

Enjoy the Island...it's laid out great for biking...

Why would just unplugging it disable it? 2 minutes after some kind of inspection and you have throttle again. Maybe you have to pinky swear that you won't plug it in latter.

As I've read you just have to show that the throttle has been disabled. So tonight I looked at the bike again. I do not see a quick disconnect to disable it. Perhaps if someone here knows where to do it, take a Pic and post it here please.

You could also remove the throttle from the handlebars, but put it in your pack and reattach it 2 minutes after the inspection. It is personal integrity and responsibility that has you do the right thing, two things that are getting harder and harder to find.

The throttle can be disabled on many bikes via the display. It won't get the throttle body out of sight but it's a step toward adhering to the spirit of the law. Since you are disabled, it's hard to believe a ranger would hassle you.

This. Change P10 setting to 0. You can demonstrate to the ranger that twisting the throttle with the bike turned on does nothing. As others have said, with a disability, the rangers aren't going to hassle you.

When you are off the island, change the P10 setting back to 2.
