Dilemma

Hello from Minnesota. My name is Cappy and I need some information. I’m ready to hit the purchase button for a Rad Runner. Problem is my wife. She refuses to buy from China. What ebikes are mostly American made? I really need a 20 inch fat tire bike. Thanks

No matter where the bike you buy is assembled, many of the components will come from China. I am not fond of buying products made there either and try to avoid doing so but absolute refusal to do so is neigh on impossible any more.

These bikes are built in California using imported (very likely Chinese) components. Probably the best you can do. Seem to have great reviews too.

these bikes are very stylish and make a dramatic fashion statement. However there are many bikes that are far more functional depending on how you ride.

The best thing you can do is visit some stores and test ride as many bikes as you can. Unless you are a capable mechanic and have the tools, time and inclination to do your own maintenance, the extra money you pay for a brand name bike from a good local shop with a commitment to good service is well worth it. There are too many sob stories here about people who got sucked in by a low price tag only to learn that that bike they bought was fraught with problems or that parts were hard to get and service was a joke. Just be aware of the risks. This is not to say that name brand bikes don't have problems, just that having a relationship with a local shop can be pricelss.

Gazelle bikes are mostly made & assemble in Holland. The motors will still be oriental.
I believe Riess & Mueller are as much European as anything.
I tried to buy a meagher hub motor made in Switzerland, but none of the US "distributors" would answer emails or the phone. I was willing to pay the $2000, instead of the $221 I paid for a chinese motor. US residents want a "bargain", what I said doesn't really matter.
there are upper echelons of shimano & sram products made in taiwan. KMC & sun products frequently come from there. Not bike frames. Pedego has been moving their frame factory to Viet Nam, don't know have far they have gotten.
It is unnecessary to disclose where any internet purchase is made until after you have accepted delivery.
I've been trying to get a law where I am allowed to know which dictator I am supporting before purchase on the internet, but the commerce dept has been raising the price of items where they don't have to label country of origin on the box anymore. Appears to be $1 now. The lords of commerce win. I mostly make things myself, except bike motors are beyond my skill. My bike had an african name, african logo, and when it got here, it was 100% chinese. Put another 100 xuighers in jail, President Xhi. They look funny, you can tell they are criminals by their appearance. BTW I'm a sneaky looking Indian, known for scalping people after dark. Short people are all criminals, Hollywood has shown you how sneaky we are. They should have shot my grandparents, but missed them somehow.

That goes for any products, not just ebikes.

Whether it's made in China, Holland, or Germany, does it make a difference? Is she looking for a solely USA sourced ebike? It doesn't exist.

I respect your wife's viewpoint, but I also suggest you have her look at the About us page on Rad's site. I can't testify to anyone's citizenship, but I can say those are real people working real jobs in my neighborhood in Seattle.

Actually my new Trek Allant+9.9s was assembled in Germany. I was surprised too.
My Vado is Taiwanese. I absolutely don't mind. Taiwan makes the best bike components. I was surprised Richard the excellent TRP Zurich brakes are a Taiwanese, not a Swiss brand.

Made in the US with US components?
Maybe you can find one of these, with dual-shock rear seat suspension!

Oh yes. Bosch motors are certainly made in the United States and SRAM drive-trains... "are manufactured primarily in-house, in factories located in Portugal, Taiwan, China, and the U.S."
Kenda tyres are made in Taiwan, etc.

None. Tell your wife she's born too late. Vast majority of parts are made in China, US companies are (at best) doing partial assembling of bikes.
