The gas, 'Degase', is running at $7 per gallon around my town in Northern California. The upside is that it makes commuting by eBike all that more attractive. The guy with the pictured bike has been spending $400 per month in commute gas. Traffic is so bad on the freeway that it seems at times that walking would be faster. He arrives at both ends stressed out from the white-knuckle bumper-to-bumper, then all the lights. He picked up his converted Specialized Roll yesterday. We did a fun test run in the hills. Now he will be taking on the train which is much faster than a car in rush hour. And then do a 10-minute ride through residential areas to the high school were he teaches. The 25-minute train ride can be a time to socialize with other regular commuters, read, look out the window or grade papers. A monthly train pass is under $40. His bike has a cupholder for his morning coffee and giant panniers. What are the gas prices in your neck of the woods? What alternatives are people using? Any bike commute stories?
