EDIT: Spoiler Alert; - So it looks like the top tube is now a hunchback, probably to look like modern MTN bikes, the bulky logo badge is gone (my 2014 looks like it will fall off one day). Happy to see the new control panel has PLUS & MINUS PAS levels, and a more secure and simple design (2014 version gets loose). Also the display has an improved mount with two mounting points and a swivel, hopefully this design improves strain relief in the harness as well as related the connectivity issues. I could not get a good look at the brakes but I did hear they are still Shimano, still mechanical and this is on an $2,900 version of the bike? Motor, battery, range and controller features are similar if not the same. BTW those pedals need to go, the center is too high in relationship to the frame and slipping off the pedals with a bike of this weight can be a disaster. -S

Shea, Thanks for finding this. I have been waiting patiently for the new 2015 Dash to come out. I was ready to buy one in the end of June, but heard of this one being available right after Interbike. It seems that they have dealt with the motor and wiring problems. For awhile I was leaning toward an Easy Motion bike. Once I road the Dash I noticed my smile was bigger. It was such a blast to ride. Definitely need a bike with a throttle. Will wait and see what else will be available after the show in a few weeks, and then make a choice. Everyone, have a safe and fun holiday weekend. Tom

Does Currie have any interest in somehow incentivicing/helping their dealers to sell models newer than 2013?
 
Paul, I know that REI and Performance Bike carries the IZip line, and they do offer free shipping at times. If available on Amazon, free shipping will also be offered if available. The nice thing about REI and Performance is that if you are a member you will get a 10% rebate the following January. So if you had to pay shipping it might help. You can then use the rebate to purchase anything else you would need. If you don't see it online, call the store and always ask if they have one or negotiate to get one at a fair price. REI is not selling Dash now at all and in any case their website says "IZIP bikes purchased on REI.com can only be shipped to the REI store of your choice for pickup". Many mainland stores don't ship ebikes here for any price because the shipping companies are cranky about the batteries in air freight.

Performance Bike also doesn't seem to have Dash in stock and nobody on Amazon either.

I will be interested to see how this need plays out in your evaluation of what the show has to offer. I've said it before but I just can't see myself liking anything else after having that extra power (always) at your fingertips.
 
Paul, Sorry about that. It's is weird. They don't have them online here either, but did at our local REI's. I checked last week and they sold their last one on the first day of a sale. After talking to a salesperson they said they just received their catalog on the new 2015 bikes and will probably not get anymore 2014's. Plus, electric bicycles are just now starting to take off in my area, so it was mentioned that most people will have to order their bikes because sales just haven't been enough to stock the bikes. I'm sure this will change in the coming years. I live in one of the biggest bike cities in the nation and most riders here are purists. As we get older as I have, and life happens, the ebike makes more sense for me now. It's been difficult trying to find the right one because the selection here is limited as well. Don't give up trying, and hopefully someone else on this forum has a connection that can help you out. Be patient, who knows, you might end up liking some new model that your local store will carry this fall. I'll keep checking around and if I see anything I will post it. Just for an idea, I was talking with a friend and were thinking if a group of people got together and bought a number of bikes could we get a discount and would it be enough to help a few others out. Anyway, I'm sure someone will chime in and help. Tom

The need for the throttle is strictly due to a spine issue I have. Sometimes I need that extra help. I was already to buy the Dash but got cold feet after reading about the motor and wiring problems. So I am trying to be opened minded and patient to look at other ebikes. From what is available in my area it was by far the most fun bike to ride for me. It would also be difficult for me to buy a bike sight unseen. I know this can be difficult for many people to do because of availability in their area. So many ebikes to try and so little time.:)

Well then I am glad that they came up with what at least looks like a much more comfortable seat if you go that route.
 
A couple other observations not noted in that video. It looks like they went with different rims. The chain has been upgraded. The kickstand will still bang around if you hit a bump (I fixed this by putting a small rubber foot where the kickstand hits against)

This should be an awesome bike.
 
Seems like a great road/city bike... Under $3k 48V, over 400 wh batter, 700c tires... Would be nice if they offered a straight fork model.. I really don't think a suspension fork, esp an inexpensive one, is worth the hassle.

And unless you have a lot of long hills, the lack of Regen isn't much of a loss.

Considering that an equivalent Stromer is at least $1k more, as are others, this seems like a great choice.

I'd like to know the story behind both of those decisions given that they're integral parts. It looks like the Peak's chain which supposedly was necessarily hardened for torque considerations. Same manufacturer on the wheels...(again) hope that any changes within the same line aren't failure/stress related.

I did have to have my rear wheel trued 3 times, so maybe the change is related to that, or its the same rim but a different look. I think the front fork is great and use the quick adjust quite often. Also the bikes price went up $300 since last years model.
 
...I'm also hoping that having the spokes Loctited solves the same problem on mine (no problems as of yet) and am keeping a close eye on it due to how bad mine wobbled (probably my fault?).

I re-read some of Shea's observations regarding his 2014 Dash and above where you had to have your rear wheel re-trued 3 times. I obviously wish that those (upgraded?) wheels would have been installed on the warrantied motors (if the following is true) yet perhaps someday/someone will bless us all with a video involving changing the rear wheel out (not looking forward to it either way):
"(Shea)...Wheel balance, spoke tension, wheel roundness are not the best and have required some love along the way.... just replaced the chain @ 1650..."
I'd also like to know whether a strictly "ebike" category AlexRim (their website designation) is recommended by the manufacturer for Dash-type products..if that rim is an OEM product (with the hub motor involved).. and whether the 2014/2015 rims are interchangeable.

Something doesn't sound right.. Unless the bike is going over some rough pavement all the time, a rim should not need to be retrued more than once, and maybe once a year after that... And Loctite is covering up a larger problem... Wheels are not that sensitive and shouldn't be a constant maintenance problem.. Replacing the spokes and nuts problably is in order.
