Como 2.0 vs Como 3.0

Hi there
I’m struggling with a purchase decision. Sold on the Como... most comfortable bike EVER. The struggle is 2.0 vs 3.0. Rode them both at my LBS. I ride mostly for leisure but worry a little about the 20mph limit. Also like the built in lighting. I’ll be honest, the black color is not appealing to me as I like lighter colored bikes (love the 2.0 platinum). Appreciate your thoughts and guidance!

The battery is bigger on the 3.0 by 25 per cent, there's that. I have a 3.0 model and me at 250 pounds, riding on full assist, with a fair amount of hills, some steep, I'm out of juice at around 18 miles, which is an hour and a half maybe of riding. Of course I can get 50 miles out of a charge, but it's more fun to burn through it.

I see there's another Como above the 3.0 on the american site. Even bigger battery and pretty colors to boot!

The black on mine makes for a good background to the light wood fenders. If you got black, maybe accessorize with color if wanted? The black is handsome, but I agree with you about color.

My wife has the Como 3.0 and loves it. I tested both the 2.0 and 3.0 and liked the 3.0 features better (better battery, lighting, 28mph). I charge my battery 2-3 times for every 1 time she charges hers. She passes me on my Rad Rover (750w hub) on 8% plus grade hills if she wants to.

I would go with the 3.0 based on our experiences.

For a buyer in US the main difference would probably be the speed, 20 or 28mph.
Gears, Alivio 9 speed. vs Deore 10 speed.
The difference in battery capacity is just 10%, 460Wh vs 504Wh

With my Como 2.0, on minimal assist, few stops, and few hills, I get about 50 miles to a battery charge. I've never tested it in a single ride, but believe I could do better than that by a bit. As far as the 20mph speed wall, there are times I wish I could go a bit faster, but then... I primarily ride bike paths and find that cruising at 20 makes for tough quick stops. So, I am happy. But if I had it to do again, I'd go 3.0. Perhaps when it's time to replace my battery I'll see if there's a way to go with the bigger battery and a hack that will remove my restrictions.

I was seriously considering the 3.0, mainly for the speed. On my current bike (Trek Supercommuter) I usually cruise at around 22-24mph, and I am glad I got a 28mph bike instead of a 20mph one.

As for the color, you could look at the step through model which comes in red. I know a lot of people see step through bikes and see a woman's bike, but that is changing. In some countries a step through bike is seen as a unisex style, although I know in the USA its still seen as a woman's style by many. If you would prefer a red como 3 vs a black one, I would look at the step through model.

Thanks for all the great perspectives! Took delivery of a 2.0 and my LBS was kind enough to swap it the ne t day with a Low Entry 3.0. The extra speed makes it the perfect bike for me!
