Chain Lube for Giant E Bike, Quick-E+, any suggestions on brand of chain lube to use.

Hi,

Just received my new Giant Quick-E+ 2018 bicycle, very excited.

Cape Town South Africa, will be cycling in bicycle lane as a commuter to work.

Any suggestions on the best chain lube for my E Bike.

Both work great on chains, but I've found the Boshield works better in other areas like cables and derailleur pivot points. Both get great reviews.

You can use most any household, automotive degreaser. I like Spray Nine. You want to be very careful the degreaser is paint and aluminum safe.

Not to mention that Boeshield also works very well applied to electrical connections to help disperse moisture and corrosion. It was developed for Boeing thus the Boeshield.

I have been using it for years and never fully clean/soak the chain with any solution, just reapply and wipe down after pretty much every ride and get many miles out of my chains. In all conditions BTW. Wet, dry and below freezing.....

@Gazza1977 We are big fans of the Muc-Off line of products. We use these lubricants in our workshop as well as sell them to our customers. What's important is to select the correct lubricant for the conditions you will be riding in.

• Dry Lube for Dry conditions:
• Wet Lube for Wet conditions
• Low temp Lube for cold winter riding

If you are riding in wet / winter conditions you should also consider getting a tube of dielectric grease and putting a thing coat on the connectors between the battery and the bike. This is a know weak point on Giant bikes and it's a great preventative maintenance tip.

Among products you might be able to buy in S. Africa, is SUS32 (SAE 5) hydraulic fluid. Buy the generic kind that doesn't meet the specs of John Deere, Catepillar, New Holland etc. No additives. Comes in gallons from the farm or industrial supply. Use a pump oiler. I lube my chain, shifters, cables, brake pivots monthly. I leave the bike daily out in the rain & snow, parts don't rust or bind.

A 4 litre bottle should last 10+ years
