CCX Watch Your Rear Chainstay Wiring.

Didn't realize this was happening until a recent tire swap for spring. My boots were making contact with the wheel connector & wearing it down. Fortunately damage seems to be only cosmetic.

Rerouted the wiring so now it's to the inside with the derailleur cable sitting outward. I use a wire for the last attachment point for the motor cable alone so it can be removed without having to cut a wire tie.

Also experienced chain jump likely from chain wear after 1000 miles that ended up sucking gouging the chainstay a bit & cutting into the motor cable. The wear seems a bit premature, but probably a combination of low end chain plus salt/slush/snowy winter. I replaced with another KMC chain, but a step up with the X9.93. Again fortunately the damage seems to be limited to the outer cable & no wires were expose. Was able to fit heat shrink marine tubing over the area & sealed it up. The new cable routing should help avoid this in the future.

Thanks, @youth.

What do you mean by boots and wheel connector? Boots is the rubber on the cable connector right? Wheel connector is? Well, I will take a look.

Strange coincidence: I bought a pack of zip-ties over the weekend and was researching chainstay protectors... Maybe I should put a giant inner tube over everything back there.

My shoes were rubbing against the cables while peddling. It rubbed a flat spot onto the plug for the motor. If I didn't catch it then it possibly could've worn down to the male plug compromising the connection.

Oh, those kind of boots! :D

Today, I wrapped up my chainstay around the wires too. I hope it works well!
