    Really good helmet light?

I ride at night most of the time by choice. While you can go out to impress with the megabuck gear (really, who else is riding with you?), I have found that in the dark countryside roads I ride, a combination of a Victagen $24 bar mount light from Amazon and a headlamp (my favorite came from a...

    Bicycle computers?

Smart phones make bike computers redundant but it's nice having a basic bike computer for instant access to some data. Sigma, Cateye, Avocet, etc used to make simple ones. Unless you're an elite athlete (on an ebike nonetheless), I would forego most of the gimmicks like GPS, heart rate, power...

    Protective Bike Gloves

If you want protection, motorcycle gloves come in a large variety of styles with generally more robust construction than superlight bike racing gloves that only have lycra covering the back of the hands and thin leather on the palm side. I suggest a mesh glove with leather palm side. I am...

what is the most comfortable and safe helmut you've used

I would say that the safest helmet is the one that you will wear. There is the average intermediate oval head that majority of the US population falls under, with long oval and round heads being the endpoints. Helmet sizing is only a starting point. Only an in-store fitting could guarantee...

Bike lighting basics video from Bike Shop Girl

Bike Shop Girl is a bike shop owner, former bike racer, bike/ebike mechanic, and daily bicyclist all rolled into one. I always thought that I knew bikes but she always surprises me with in-depth knowledge and I've always experienced a "gee whiz" moment watching her videos. In this video, she...

    Panasonic Titanium eBike frame fail

I had a Litespeed Catalyst from 1994. Maybe because the tubing was straight gauge with no tapers, but it was/is pretty indestructible. My brother has it now. I’ve watched an A-10 with titanium plate armor being shot by a cannon. Hardly a dent on just flat titanium plate.

    Panasonic Titanium eBike frame fail

I bought my Litespeed titanium bike because I talked to a racer who crashed bike in a race and it came out undamaged and factory straight . I wouldn’t trust that Panasonic ti frame. It looks like they didn’t know what they were doing.

    Belt verses chain

I rode a BMC Alpenchallenge with belt and Shimano Alfine 8. What a smooth ride!!! My brother likes his Priority bike a lot.

    What are your riding techniques?

I would be a spandex guy except I don’t have a road bike anymore. Anyway, when I ride by myself, I use PAS 1, relatively lower gears for a high cadence ride of about 85-90. I don’t do sprints anymore mainly because bike geometry and I don’t trust Altus stuff to not break. There are mild hills so...

    Headlights???

I use an Amazon-bought Victagen ($23 at the time of purchase more than 2 years ago , includes a very bright tail light) and I ride at night very often, starting after sundown. I also use a Coast headlamp (2-pack from Costco for $24). So $50 for lights. If you ride off road trails at night, then...

    Dropper Seatpost

One type of bike that you might find easy to ride are the Electra cruiser type bikes. The really slack seat tube angle makes it easy to both have leg extension for pedaling and be able to put down your feet when stopped.

    Dropper Seatpost

Go to this great video on seatposts. Go to around the 4 minute mark for dropper seatpost discussion. There apparently is also a dropper and suspension seatpost combo.

    Hidden Road Hazards

be careful riding on gravel with round stones. Wet leaves or grass cuttings, painted lines, antifreeze on the middle of the road, plywood or other lumber (many have nails sticking out), etc

    Acceptable roof rack for eBikes?

Why not get a trailer from Harbor Freight? Mount one of their economy motorcycle wheel chock (or 2) and just strap it down. I can just see you scratching up the side of your pick up or having the bike fall on the tonneau or you injuring yourself lifting an awkward load up high. Be careful...

New ebikes coming from Greg LeMond

I wonder if Lemonds are still under the Trek company umbrella. Back in the day (90s), Trek, Gary Fisher, Lemond, Bontrager and Klein were owned by Trek, IIRC.
