But how much of that time is air freight and how much is customs? I would imagine the backlog is customs clearance.

I bit the bullet and ordered the Bike Parts Jantos item for my Delite (along with the Rohloff E14 shifter extension).

Well, after my delivery slipped from mid-August to mid-October it looks like my bike is in customs now and should be with my dealer imminently. I am hoping for handover early next week.

But all those countries are imposing different rules on the non-EU traveller. That's not possible. The new Smart System uses a different version of the motor - the hardware is almost exactly the same as regards motor and internal gearbox but the electrical system is very different. There is no cross compatibility between the old and new systems. One would assume that the...

The motor is more efficient at higher cadences though, i think for the Bosch gen 4 it's something like 70 to 90 rpm is the sweet spot. Spinning at a higher cadence is also better for things like knees, because you're spinning faster but apply less pressure to the pedals to achieve the same...

With 6 days to go before expected delivery i got an email from R&M in Germany to say that my Delite Mountain Rohloff will now be delivered mid to late October. Whilst i'm disappointed, hopefully this means i may get the "new" spec Bosch stuff (which is still under embargo until Aug 31).

Absolutely, any local bike shop should be able to do 95% of the setup, the only thing different would be the electrics - and again any local bike shop which deals with Bosch powered bikes should have the necessary equipment to do that side of it.

No big changes. I believe there is a new model coming and some small changes regarding displays but overall it's a very minor update to the range. Bosch are having supply issues so the next 9 to 12 months will be very interesting anyway...

Ordered my Delite Mountain Rohloff back in late May and was told delivery would be late August. That still seems to be the case according to the website, i am expecting delivery in less than 3 weeks.

Your local R&M dealer should have done all this before you received the bike. Have you done basic bike builds before? The Delite is pretty similar in those respects to any other normal bike - so you will need a set of allen keys (hex), torx (star), and a few other basic tools. I'm concerned...
