Erratic Odometer

I have 2 Giant 2018 Explore e+3 bikes. Both seem to record miles erratically. The Trip Distance seems to work fine but total miles odometer seems to “forget” a ride as often as not. I’ve started keeping a log of miles ridden based on my fitness band records. One bike has missed 87 of the last 108 miles ridden.

Wondering whether anyone else has been having this problem. Thinking it could be caused by removing the battery without powering down first.

Indeed that is causing the issue. in the shutdown protocol is the writing of the odo to the drive unit... I've seen it on other similar systems.
