With 125% tariffs, will the e-bike market die?

As mentioned 99.6% of Li battery cells are made within a 100 mile area of each other in Shenzhen. That is where the supply chains have coalesced globally, and where factories, and labor are focused. You can't just move that. Most bike motors are made in the same region. It might have a Swiss or German brand name on it but that is not where it is manufactured. I rely on batteries and motors. And have done my very very best to maintain my relationships there. Ford has a battery factory built with huge government subsidies. They are not about to sell their own battery sock. Tesla also has a domestic US assembly plant that uses Panasonic cells made in China.

Well let’s face it, if he soiled himself on national tv and rolled around in his own ordure. The cult members would praise his brilliance and wisdom.
He is the quintessential moron

Two interesting data points from the bike (though not e-bike) industry:

Oveja Negra, a small manufacturer of bikepacking bags in Salida, CO, is laying off half of its staff due to displacements caused by tariffs:

It is interesting to note that mostly that is because of a total collapse of exports, not increased costs of imported components. This absolutely sucks because Oveja Negra makes absolutely excellent stuff.

Also, perspectives from a pretty established manufacturer of bicycle components in the Pacific NW:

Never let them know youre next move is actually proving to be quite a disruptor at the moment, hes fallen out with Israel overnight and no one saw that coming, of course its only a short time before any policy announcement just goes in the respond next week tray
It only adds to the fact that he/USA cannot be trusted as a partner in anything. I hate it, but it's the reality of today. Time to move on... :(
