What are major differences between Cruiser style, City style and Electric Road bikes?

I am a noob to e-bikes, but being fedup with Los Angeles commute, came across this as an option and am now researching heavily. My commute is 33 miles one way, so I am looking for a bike that is fast, has good battery life, but also comfortable. My commute will likely be an hour (or a little more) each way, so I'm wondering if I'd be better off with a cruiser style for comfort, or if this style will be much slower? Can any experienced (or semi-experienced) riders give your opinions?

is your commute route uninterrupted (no red lights) ? Seems to me the commute will take 2 hours one way. Stromer ST2.

Hi Brambor,

At least 60% of my commute will be the bike path along the beach from Palos Verdes to Santa Monica, so that should be a straight shot. I haven't ridden this entire bike path before, but this is what I'm guessing. As for the rest, there is another dedicated bike path along the LA River that would take me another 15% of the way, so the only time I'll be dealing with lights is when riding across Long Beach to Palos Verdes, of which I plan to take Anaheim Blvd, which is a completely industrial area, and then Palos Verdes Blvd, which is a residential street with a dedicated bike lane in a quiet neighborhood. So unlike most of LA, it seems I could avoid the normal busy streets.

nice. Looks like ST2 has the range for your commute given the speed you are thinking about going, otherwise you'll have to commute with additional battery in your backpack.

Is it rare for ebike batteries to have a range of more than 30 miles?

I certainly have considered having an extra battery, if nothing else, in case of emergency, but am guessing these have significant weight, and therefore would make the ride slower and more difficult - do you think?

Looking at the ST2 now, but first thing that pops out is the price. I'd much prefer to stick around 3K range (maybe up to 4K) if possible.

You can cover 30 miles with many bikes but not if you want to push and go fast.

I think one thing that is throwing us off a little is your estimated speed of about 33 miles per hour. Most ebikes in the US are limited to 20 miles per hour with assist... some go up to 28.
