Your thoughts and suggestions

A new bike shop is coming to my town. I just saw the location. It will only have eBikes. They will be popular all direct to consumer brands, but people can test ride them there and get warranty work and service. I think it is a highly innovative business model. The owner does not need to float any inventory other than the demo bikes. There would need to be some sort of incentive for people buying through him and not testing his bikes then ordering on their own. Maybe something like you pay upfront for three demo rides. But if you buy at the dealership that money is applied back to the bike.

BBSHD is great motor, its powerful but you can always just turn down the pedal assist, that said you would still have a bike with no suspension and a cadence sensor. I think for a 77yo rider you would do better with a purpose built E-Bike.

This build is for my better half, 77yoa, with bad knees etc.

We have a 55 yr anniversary that is coming up and I would like to get her riding with me,
and surprise her with this build. (fingers crossed).

I have been doing hours worth of searching about building a decent women's ebike,
using this type of Brand/style, and kind of bike, and have contacted Pedaluma, for his thoughts/suggestions.

Per information I have found, (unknown to me, if it is true), with this certain brand of bike,
I can remove the OEM pedal crank and insert a 120mm BBSHD Bafang motor shaft into the BB housing, AND HAVE the motor sitting on top and inside the bottom part of the frame ??,
better ground clearance and protection for the motor for around here.

The distance from the BB and seat down post allows this to happen?
Click on the photo to enlarge and see what I mean. Is this possible and wise to do?? Read safety here..
So far upon checking other standard bikes I have not found ANY frames with this setback option. so far.

The only info on the build of this type, he built on a men's style bike, but I need a women's style.

This thread starts over on the introduction section so I will refer back to the beginning.

This build MUST have a throttle, until the wife can pedal, every thing around here is UPHILL,
except for the valley floor, also fenders and maybe a front basket for her stuff etc..
Also the motor used must be programable for her use, also have 26" 2-3"semi wide tires,
48v 15a or better, battery for the back rack, (in nylon bag).

Is there more building sites for this type of information, as I am in the dark here.??

Thank you for you time and trouble,
Don
ps, I'll also be riding it.
FYI: Around here, correct nomenclature for this type of bike is "step through," not women's style. Many of us older guys now prefer them.

Thanks Guys,
I am attempting to get the BH into a ebike place without giving everything away.
The first words are going to be "You don't need a another ebike". Yes I do, I can't swing my leg over the seat, so I better get a step thru so I don't fall down again,
I have only crashed and burned 1 time, but she don't know that yet.

Then I'll trick her into getting on and giving it a quick ride, using the easiest gear ratio, as in, do you think it's easy to pedal?.
I only have a couple of brands to select from, Pedego, and what Scheels store carry.

I have been researching for the last several days, and It is almost impossible to find a lite weight ebike, step thru, that is under 50#'s with tires in the 2-3" size x 26", with 48v battery, throttle with full fenders F&B and back rack and at least 7 spd gearing.

I am still looking..............
