I just found this video on whatt types of motors could run an ebike or go cart. I have no affiliation with the author--just thought it had some neat information. Specifically, this guy shows how a washing machine motor (universal) would not work to power a vehicle. But he shows you what you theoretically would need and things like that. Then he goes to DC motors. Last, he tries an electric cart/forklift motor.
It's sort of rudimentary since ebike motors have come so far but I thought you guys might find it interesting.
