I love my bike (2016/17 250W Turbo X) and am starting to ramp up my commuting now that the weather is getting consistently good (dry) and sunset is getting later!
There is one current annoyance - the brake cable (housing, really) is rubbing against the head tube. I took it in to my Specialized dealer and they said this was "normal." It has not only rubbed through the paint but has now left a divot/indentation in the tube itself.
If it's cosmetic, I'll just live with it (what can they do, really?) but what I really want to know is whether a plastic housing could actually wear away the metal ("alloy" which I take to mean chromoly) of the frame over time. Or is the divot/indentation that I feel just the paint worn away.
1. Is this just cosmetic or an actual structural issue over time?
2. Is there anything the dealer/LBS or Specialized can or should do? I don't think touch-up paint is going to do much here.
3. Is there anything I could do? Foam or something around the housing? Duct tape on the head tube where it's rubbing? Other ideas?
4. Have others with this series (hub-drive Turbos from maybe 2013 - 2017) experienced this? If not, how is your brake cable placed to avoid rubbing (see the picture)?
Thanks!
