Maybe you should show her how the DVR works. I enjoy watching TV but haven't watched a commercial in years.
She is incapable of anything that complex( takes Me forever) on the other hand my Daughter could set Her right up( I used to be able to setup up the early VCRs-I think these days 'Plaque" and concussions are taking their toll) In a Hospital where She was staying a while back they had a controller that had hardly any buttons, that's what She needs, most of the time all She needs is volume-channel, off and on.
I guess the DVR is the electron thieves answer to "Ala carte" commercial free TV.

This is so common. And, sad. It is one reason I like to hop on a bike, be creative or read a book. But I do like that you can see it and avoid getting sucked into wasting your life in front of a TV. Today I am reading mythology from a feminist perspective, Gaia is pissed, and I am fixing up a lovely Ultegra road bike. The derailleur just came out of a Mobil 1 bath.
We have wounded our"Earth Mother" so severely, even though we are like a bad rash it shows our disrespect and hatefulness. In the End"Mother wins" time is on Her side( consider the civilizations that have come and gone even more recently{on a geologic scale} consider the "Clovis People" who were here(on North America) before the People we call "Native Americans", hey I am a Native American, bet most of you are too( with apologies to the Canadians and the recent Immigrants)

Lovely stuff, lovely, that petroleum. Indispensible to our way of life, if we're honest. I guess that's the trouble. Being honest.

I like the Canadian term "first peoples" better than our "native Americans". It's clear, and not subject to misapplication 😉.

The Canadian's use the term First Nations. The thing is things have always been in flux. There is no "first." Migrations and wars have always happened. The idea of a past time of original stasis, of when to start the clock, is false. There were no people on the plains as a Plains Culture until the Spanish imported horses. The Aztecs came from the Northern desert wastelands and were hated by the Central Mexicans. They were brutal as hell. Wars and slavery have existed in Africa for at least 60 thousand years. No continent was ever a place of original people in some idealic state. I know that this idea is not popular. The question is what do we do now. How should we behave in this time of migration due to climatic strife?

If you cannot distinguish male from female, based on feelings, how does one determine anything else such as you declare free from misapplication - as you misname them? Misnaming, misgendering; no way out of the created miasma.

Last night on Nova I watched a documentry on arctic ice. A team of scientists spent almost a year,
much of it based from an icebreaker frozen into an ice floe. While NASA has said the polar ice covers
about the same area as ever,( to the delight of deniers), the team discovered it is only a fraction of
the thickness,( hence volume) , that it was just a decade ago. the study, which was slated to go into
it´s 2nd september, had to be abandoned when in july the arctic ocean disintegrated into a sea of
small chunks. They also dicovered that snow leveis are actually contributing to the thaw by insulating
the ice from colder surface temps. while allowing warmer sea temps, to melt it from beneath,

I was thinking more of misappropriation, deliberately employed to negate and disregard. Rather like the "all lives matter" response to the black lives matter movement (well, based on the reality, obviously all lives do NOT matter equally, and, black lives matter less in many physical/legal/educational, etc. structures in our society). Similarly, anyone born in the US can claim to be a "native American", and many who are dismissive of treaty rights employ that phrase to dismiss the rightful concerns and issues of US first peoples. As a language/history/socialogy geek, I find the ways language is used to diminish and negate different groups and people quite interesting (and sad)...

Police found David Dorn, 77, dead outside of Lee's Pawn and Jewelry store in North City around 2:30 a.m. local time.

Dorn retired in 2007 after serving 38 years with St. Louis Metropolitan Police. He later served as police chief at Moline Acres, in the suburbs of St. Louis. His wife is a sergeant with the St. Louis police.

His death was broadcast on Facebook Live. “You killed a man over some TVs," a man recording the video yelled at people fleeing the scene in vehicles. “That’s somebody’s granddaddy.”
That one didn't matter to the thugs who pretend - or their leaders who skim the million$ homes .

They´re also quite fond of the patronizing term, ´äboriginals¨ in Canada. Linguistically the Aztecs are
related to the Ute & Shoshone. The brutality was actually borrowed from the Mayan ¨flowery warś,
( religion driven population control). Territorial strife is inevitable when resources for one group dwindle.
Presently this is happening on a global scale driven by overpopulation & climate change. It is going
to get far worse if we cannot control our numbers, climate abuse. & soil depletion. It is a coming
mass extinction in progress.

In the book I am reading Gaia initiates the actions leading to the Trojan war. Her plea is heard by Zeus who takes it from there. She cannot carry the burden of humanity. There are far too many and they are too greedy and wasteful. Maybe this is what is happening now, figuratively.

If you could kill 99% of humanity instantly, would you? Or 100%.

When you're finished reading your feminist claptrap, will you have what it would take to reduce the population drastically?

Native American is so goddam patronizing. I´m fine with injun, the Washinton Redskins, Kansas City Chiefs.
At least it keeps the notion alive that those peoples did exist & some still do. Tribal registries represent but
1% on U.S. population but their genes have spread thru millions of Americans living today & their spirits
live on in many more here. To date there has been just one ´native´ US senator. Blacks, hispanics, & asians
have faired little better. (´Hispanics´ actually primarily of native decent). For the most part, racism is just
white fear, fear of having all that was stolen taken back.

I'd like to recommend another book - "Factfulness", by the late Hans Rosling. I return to it again and again when I become overwhelmed by our climactic catastrophies, for s bit of perspective and a small (extremely small, but, still) glimmer of hope.
