I finally took delivery of my '22 Vado SL 5.0 EQ today in the ever-so-subtle yellow finish.

@fatshark: If I could give you an advice...
As visible in the picture, the Lezyne headlight is hidden behind the cables. The best you could do would be buying an out-front GoPro mount and move the lamp forward past the cables (that's exactly what I did). The lamp is GoPro mount compatible!

Thanks @Stefan Mikes ... the light hadn't been adjusted in that first photo. It has been now and it is largely clear of the cables. I'm also likely to use a secondary flashing LED light for visibility.

Disappointingly I had to get contrasting black CrankBrothers pedals as they don't do a yellow finish

I've also worked out how to change the info on the MCU - either by fiddling with the handlebar controller or, more easily, via the App. It's all pretty intuitive.

Ah. That was one thing I forgot to mention. A kickstand came as a part of delivery of my Vado SL 4.0 EQ. I can get the part number but you'd need to wait for a day.

A couple of Mastermind TCU questions ...

• I've not got an option to lock the bike using Mission Control. This doesn't of course 'lock' the bike, but it does stop the motor being used. It's a feature on the Vado (though not clear whether this includes the Vado SL) with the Mastermind TCD bikes, so might not apply to mine.
• has anyone worked out what happens to the data if you turn the bike off, but leave Mission Control running - for example, if I stop for a very long lunch, or go to the beach for a few hours. Is the ride recorded in its entirety, or as two separate rides? If no-one knows I'll investigate next time out.

Does battery drain remain linear assuming the usage remains broadly the same? I want to plan some longer trips and don't want to find myself 15 km from home on 'vapour' (or whatever the equivalent is for a battery).

Yes, it is linear. However, the last 5% of the battery are hardly usable; the assistance drops significantly. So plan your rides for the 100-5% battery range.
P.S. Can your MasterMind TCU display Range and Range Trend? Bear in mind if you start your loop downwind, the range will significantly drop upwind.
You could use Smart Control in Mission Control to ensure your ride goal would be met on the battery.

Thanks ... good to know. I think the TCU can display range (and perhaps range trend) though I've not studied much further than average speed and distance yet. I've managed to pair a HRM successfully.

Every direction I cycle appears to have a headwind around here . I can do a 40 km "there and back" route - which is more or less linear - and have a 20 km headwind in both directions. Weird ... and not in a good way.

What you're descibing might indicate one of two situations:

• The wind is weak and what you perceive is "apparent wind", and/or
• It is a side-wind.

As I plan my long rides meticuously, I always take the wind speed and direction as critical factors into account. If I'm riding solo, I choose the outbound leg of my ride to be upwind, and I try to return with the tailwind. I cannot choose it for group rides though. So I look up the forecast wind and adjust the assistance so I could have more of it upwind but far less downwind. Note: Although Smart Control is trustworthy, I only use it for demo rides to ensure I will be able to return to the LBS. Otherwise, variable assistance of SC is not for me, especially on the mountain road rides.

I live on a remote peninsula with one road. At the end of my track I can turn right or left (west or east). In either direction there's no junction for 10-15 km. When i do reach the junction I can either go straight on or north to the other side of the peninsula (another 10 - 15 km). Route finding is pretty straightforward. All of the roads west of me are 'dead ends' and there are no circular route options. They all stop when they run out of land and reach the sea.

The winds are influenced by the hills and tend to blow in off the sea ... the peninsula is bordered to the south by a narrow sea loch (like a Norwegian fjord). I suspect you're right and it's a mix of apparent wind and a side wind ... but I was also joking a bit when I said there was always a headwind .

Time to go and see if I can get range and range trend appearing on the TCU display.

I was very impressed with these features on the MasterMind TCD-w display. As I ride the Gen 1 Vado SL, I need to use a prosthesis for that. Older Spec e-bikes worked with an independent BLEvo app (not working with MasterMind). Therefore, I need to keep my smartphone running BLEvo to get a trustworthy Range estimate. You're lucky with your TCU!
