Good eye. 👍 I likely would have passed by it umpteen times and would never have noticed it until someone pointed it out to me.

The Allegheny River trail near Oil City PA. Seems everyone has a tiny oil well rig in their back yard. There are even a few along the trail:

It's easy to see where the town got it's name.

Even the nearby Bradford McDonalds has a working oil jack in their parking lot

Just a little downstream from Drake's Well. Spent a lot of my childhood on Sunday drives through that area.

Wife and i are just getting started with riding, less than 100 miles on our Ride1Ups. Very happy so far. Virginia has several “rails to trails” parks where they converted abandoned railway lines to bike-hike-horse paths. This was on the trail in Lynchburg. If you know the area, it’s on the far end of Percivals island, where it crosses the James river. I’m not sure this part of the path was part of the railway, but it was connected to the main trail.

Welcome to the forum!

Try the New River Trail down near Galax. It's worth the ride.

Good luck with your new bikes!

The Virginia Creeper Trail is fun but it gets quite crowded. Most bikers take the shuttle to the top and ride one way downhill. It makes it difficult for those who ride in both directions.

New River is a bit closer but still a 3 hour drive.
