Checked in on the roadworks by my place today as they aren't working on Sunday. It is a re-route that is replacing a road that has been abandoned.

That Gabion retaining wall is huge. No wonder it has taken them so long to get that stretch done. I have to say though that they are supposed to be done by Halloween but they have alot to go it looks like to me? This was taken today at the north end of the project about a mile and a half away from the top shot.....

It is my understanding that with a Federally funded project like this that deadlines are strict.

Yes I like riding on Sunday as it has fewer trucks and you can go places that are more daunting on weekdays!

We went through there last weekend on Sunday from the other end and got honked at by the front end loader operator who was working in the area by the wall.....luckily there is a trail that leads down over the Cape that we can ride that avoids the north end construction altogether. It does cut us off from the trails we have up in there for now however it seems or at least will soon. Hopefully by the time it is Chanterelle season they will be further along as that is our prime territory.

Prairie Dog ....oops maybe I should have kept my mouth shut. You were planning your trip here in June but I may have convinced you to wait until August. There is no smoke yet and no rain so far this month. Sorry about that chief....

Not a problem Steve. We were actually planning to leave this month but my wife suffered a fall several weeks ago and bruised her ribs. She’s pretty much recovered but it’s now become somewhat of a logistical nightmare trying to organize the trip. It’s pretty much fallen all on my shoulders and I’m not sure if I’m able to pull it off. July would be worse with summer traffic at its peak. Fall is out as my wife plans on returning home overseas to visit family.

I’m currently situated in Lake Louise and look forward to riding the Highline trail tomorrow. My brain hurts thinking about the west coast trip so this singletrack ride is a temporary distraction albeit a positive one. ;)

Here’s pic that I took today near Castle Mt Junction along the shores of the Bow River with Castle Mountain lending a dramatic backdrop.

Killing some time before tomorrow's ride. The double track Tramline trail that runs from Lake Louise all the way down to the village. It’s a great way to get to the townsite without having to deal with all of that horrendous traffic below.
