Winter Wonderland! what about bar mitts at those temperatures? View attachment 142352
Bar mitts would easily get hung up on trees along some of the trails that I ride plus they are a bit cumbersome.

On colder days I rely on heated liners to keep my digits from becoming popsicles.

What heats them ? Batteries ?
Yes, I have the option of either plugging the rechargeable 12v Li batteries directly into the glove liners and slipping them into the liner’s own zippered pockets or using a stickman cable that extends through each arm sleeve where the batteries would be placed inside the inner pockets of my jacket. I prefer the latter as the gloves are way too bulky with the inserted batteries hence making it difficult to slip on my outer mitts. If the jacket that I’m wearing has no inner pockets, I also have the option of using a heated waist belt which also has battery pockets in addition to plug ins for heated boot liners. I have yet to use the boot warmers this season but they sure came in handy last winter. There are three temp setting buttons on the gloves as well as on the waist belt for the heated insoles.

Been taking advantage of the Bluebird Sunshine here on the OR coast the last few days ticking off beach rides for maximum sunshine exposure.

Cape Lookout Southside.jpg

South side of Cape Lookout, rode the beach for 4.5 miles to Sand Lake. Couldn't get across there so the next section down to Cape Kiwanda is for another low tide sunny day....

Put trail work on hold til it clouds up again....but checked out a new possible trail tool!

I'll bet some hillbilly YouTube influencer would love to get their hands on that and get it running for content. There was an excavator of similar size and vintage and another grapple unit that I didn't get a picture of.

You said it! My family just got back from Hawaii and it looks pretty inviting .... but hey Winter is beautiful too. I spotted a new bird yesterday....a Hermit Thrush. I have never seen one around here before. https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Hermit_Thrush/overview#
Family in Kelowna are also feeling the effects of this latest system to hit the central interior with some pretty intense wind chills.

Hopefully your family timed their arrival back home before the fiasco at the airport.

The only birds that seem to congregate around our feeders are nut hatches and chickadees and the usual magpies and Jays are always looking around for places to stash peanuts. I should pay more attention to my surroundings as I don’t really know what I could be missing.

Borrego Springs and Anza Borrego SP are definitely on my list. Wont be able to hit them this time but next time I come this way I’ll do some riding on that side.

Nice thanks for that pic . I wanted to visit that area and Borrego Springs when I was in San Diego but never made it.
couple more from today - it’s easy to follow the powerline road but there were some significant washes every couple hundred yards. Fun to ride and negotiate but a few surprises along the way too. No damage and no new injuries though so all is well. Another good day. I have a knee injury and cant walk much but it seems 10-15 miles on the bike is ok.

Here is the best bike rack I have ever come across. It is the only one I would feel ok to leave my bikes at for any length of time because the clever design locks both wheels and the frame! Thieves will look for easier pickings methinks.
