More chance of seeing a dead body on a e bike?
Never saw any the years I road a regular bike or recumbent but got the second one today since I have had e bikes. First was on the road to our house by a business thought the cops were busting someone. But when we went by 20 minutes later a coroner van was there someone had died in a mini van in the middle of summer. A few days later someone in a full hazmat suit and pumped air was cleaning out the car.
Today saw a bunch of cop cars in this small parking lot beside the bike path with someone somewhat human covered in a tarp and woman standing around crying. I think I have passed a few that died in homeless camps too.

I have never found a body but yesterday I saw a cyclist lying on his back on the road. He was struck in a crosswalk under the skytrain. He lay motionless, staring at the sky waiting for an ambulance , which could take a very long time around here these days. It was a wake up call for me because I have been developing a bad habit recently of jumping the gun at crosswalks in order to avoid being cut off by drivers making right turns. May we all keep the rubber side down.

About 10 years ago, I witnessed a cyclist hit and killed at an intersection on Route 37 in Toms River, NJ. I was in my truck waiting for the light to change as a group of cyclists crossed in front of me. The last guy in line didn't see the light change and ran right in front of an oncoming car. Not a pretty sight and one I hope to never see again.

According to Google it says I made it half way round the world now by Ebike but I think next year I will keep track with my bike odometers instead because I feel that Google is sometimes shortchanging my trips. My new goal for 2023 is not more bike kms but fewer car kms. Ideally I would like to use only one tank of gas per year!

At last the rain washed the snow away leaving a very rideable 5 degree , cloudy but dry day. I headed towards Steveston. When I hit West Richmond Dyke trail I encountered many flocks of birds passing overhead. 110 kms later I arrived home to find that my saddle bag had taken a direct hit. Did those fowl Fowls get me also? I checked my helmet only to discover that my Endura rain cover was missing. My bad for not securing it properly this morning. Riding in the PNW demands a proper helmet rain cover so I rode to the Trek store where they informed me they were out of stock. On my way home I caught a glimmer of yellow on a street sign as I streaked by. Someone had decided to hang it there to aid in our reunification. Thank you nameless stranger!

Nice! That’s one way of giving back during the holiday season even though the stranger likely had no idea that his good dead would fortuitously pay off. 👍
