We just got back from our trip to the French Pyrenees and northern Spain. I have acres of pics, but we only rented bikes once, in Saint-Girons. They were Haibikes with Yamaha motors, and we rode on the rail trail which runs from a little beyond Foix to a bit past Saint-Girons. We did about 24mi rt.

The man at the bike shop said we should stop off and have lunch in Castelnau-Durban at Chez Victor, and since it was just about lunch time when we got to Castelnau-Durban,that worked out nicely.

We certainly did not need electric bikes for the rail trail. There are a few tunnels on the trail, and they have lights in them, which is nice. It was quite cold inside the tunnels, so if one wanted to get some respite from a heatwave, that might be a place to duck into. Kind of damp though.

we were having a nice enough ride in the rain coming to this street. our bike will trigger the light almost every time so I don't push the button lines it des not. usually you can cross without it anyway but this guy on the other side started screaming at us for not pushing the button. even though it was our bike that triggered it or it would have taken longe. he continued to yell at us as we crossed. bad case of bike path rage I guess.

My new e bike, it runs a long way on a gallon of gas. I saw this on Facebook Marketplace. $200. Claimed to run 35mph. I haven’t figured out what’s up with the seats yet, some sort of tandem setup or for a little kid.

I had the LBS replace my blown air fork on my Charger. When I got the bike back I reinstalled the Bikespeed delimiter which I had sent back to Germany for repair. When I tested the bike I noticed the headlight did not work anymore but otherwise everything worked as expected. Then I sent this pic to the Germans to complain that they must have replaced the plug on the delimeter with one that was not an exact match. They promptly replied that the blue plug is for the headlight. Only then did it dawn on me that I had it connected incorrectly. I am a DUNCE !

I took the Boundary Road out to Laguna Seca Raceway today. Its a recreational area on the front side. The Boundary Road is sort of the halfway-secret back way in that everyone local knows about, but most visitors to the area don't know exists. Just the entrance road is about 5 miles long, looks like its going to nowhere from nowhere and is only 2 lanes. Fenced off on both sides, with concertina barbed wire on the north side where the road borders the old Fort Ord tank proving grounds. Signs say U.S. Property and danger of unexploded munitions, which are pretty convincing.

So the track and recreational area are both closed, and I had to get thru three closed gates to get all the way down the road and then onto the track grounds. Once I was in it was like I was the only person in the whole place. I have driven this track many times and been a spectator there as well. I've never seen it completely deserted. It is closed as they tore down the overhanging bridge that was also used by race control for the start/finish flags. Along with the iconic spectator tower. The replacement construction is just beginning. I stopped by the front straight and munched a sandwich I brought along, and hearing some conversation in the distance told me I wasn't alone and there were probably people up at the administration building about 100 yards away. If I hadn't heard those voices, I probably would have at the very least parked the bike directly on the track for a picture and, just maybe, a lap around the track. As you can see thanks to the construction removing the K rail barrier thats usually there, I could have rolled right onto the front straight just before Turn 2.

This is where the Sea Otter Classic is held and I wanted to see how much battery I eat up making the trip from home. The 21ah pack on this bike was just barely enough to get it done. I plan on riding my Bullitt from home to the next Sea Otter in April.
