Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Thank you for your research, Ras!
One of my friends, a Vado SL rider, told me he was looking for some special bike as a 50-yo gift for himself. He was first thinking of yet another e-bike then of a pedal bike, perhaps titanium (you know how it goes for quinquagenarians) :) Of course the man still doesn't know what he wants but at some point he mentioned a KTM. I wrote him: "Come on... A motorcycle company bike product?" I think he accepted my comment easily. (Am sure he will end up with a TREK gravel bike. Why? No idea!)

I think during and before Covid, ebikes were seen as the business to be in $$$$$ so everyone got into ebikes. Makes business sense. Now after 3 bad years and no signs internationally of the world magically improving that number has slimmed back down. Will we be looking at the same 'big four' in a few years time, Giant, Trek, Specialized and Cannondale? Or will they be swallowed up by bigger fish from outside bikes and end up be a sticker on a heavily discounted anonymous bike?

What's interesting to me about that Gas Gas story is how in 1985 they represented a new young exciting motorbike brand (The name is a shortened saying in Spanish "‘Vamos! Gas a fondo... gas gaaas!!!’ which translates to ‘C’mon, give it full gas!!!) meant to be an exciting and new fun motorbike Trials company (both partners worked for Bultaco the now defunct Catalonian Trials bike kings). So many times we see that in small companies, passion and creativity then growth then a sale either because they are offered loads of cash or in trouble. But sold without the original minds behind it. That never makes sense to me. And too often the sold brand goes quickly downhill.

It's been raining all day here and I'm not getting much done except discovering the rise and fall of an obscure Spanish bike brand. Hope this question comes up if I'm ever on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire because its just going to rattle around in my brain forever now and I'll probably end up muttering something about Gas Gas on my death bed mystifying my children for decades.

Won't be biking in the plains and northeast for awhile:

Sound track for these thoughts

The weather was supposed to be rain all day according to the apps on hand. Nope... started out great and stayed that way! Around 10c.
Had some physical/medical issues over the last few weeks which kept me away from riding. That and ugly weather revealed I hadn't been on the bike since Dec 20th! I haven't experienced a drought like that for over 7 years!
Pumped up the kicks and headed out for what felt like a devirginizing short test run...

Headed into the greenway. It's a bit wet...

Wet enough that I submerged both of my shoes multiple times in deep puddles...

Heading home I tackled this hill which reaches around 14 - 15 grade...

And just to make the rest of Canada angry...

Oh, also first ride with this new skull cap. So much better in the cold! Shoes and socks were soaked!
Finally so good to get out!

not angry just envious, actually on our side of the Rockies we have had an unusual week with high temps between 15 and 20 but as is normal this time of year everything is "brown" probably until May - even looking at the green grass had a few sighs going on

Couldn't believe my luck today mate. Your temps are incredible!

Today was supposed to suck weather wise as well, but no!
After going to pick up my son's wheels from the LBS to get converted to tubeless I figured a short ride was in order.
Out 'round the hood...

Local community garden is waiting for spring...

Decent bike lane...

Busy intersection...

The local pump track...

Many circles...

Nice day, but half way I needed to turn on the heated gloves. Close to home I almost needed to turn on the vest as well. Beautiful, but pretty cool...

Over my 3+ years on EBR, I've shared a lot of images of the places I ride in San Diego County — mostly on or near the coast from Del Mar to Oceanside.

A few steps off the Coast Highway in south Carlsbad. More examples in the thumbnails below.

Just found this well-done Nature documentary on the county's abundant wildlife. Sharing it here for its wonderful overview of the bigger picture — what the rest of this very large and diverse county looks like. WAY beyond the SoCal you may know from TV and the movies.

If nothing else, catch the bioluminescence and marine layer segments at 43:30. The latter comes up in my posts a lot.

This morning I got up, checked the weather and although the temp was -1C it was beautiful out. The plan was to ride down to and over the recently and permanently closed Patullo bridge.
Waited until noon for things to warm up a tad at 5C, bundled up and headed out. This time the heated gloves and vest were on and for good reason.

Headed down to River Road, but this time went North East towards said bridge...

At the centre of this shot you can see the orange arch of my target...

Riding through the flats. The area is a bit dodgy and has numerous auto wreckers...

This being the final weekend opportunity for people to walk/ride the bridge brought out thousands of the like minded...

Old and new side by side. The new bridge is on the up river/east...

Hmmm... Seems ominous...

The Patullo bridge was built in 1937, and as you can see it's about time for a replacement...

A look at the new bridge mid span...

Looking down reveals the old train/rail bridge...

To the West is the "Skytrain" bridge built around 1986...

A look at the old bridge from underneath...

A dive bar on the way home...

Riding up this hill is a beeotch, even with an ebike...

Round trip a paltry 26.5kms but felt great after such a hiatus lately.
