Nice day in NH. Temp at start of ride was upper 50's got into lower 60's sun was out. All pics taken in Bow NH on Wood Hill rd and Branch Londonderry Turnpike East which is the unmaintained road. The oak trees are dropping acorns every time I hit one it sounds like my tire has exploded.

I booked this week off work to look after my dad and thankfully he is having a good week :) So I managed 3 rides, 36 miles, 34 miles and today I had time to do a 50 miler :D It has actually been dry all this week which is very unusual for here, I'm not complaining though ;) 2019 mileage is now 2,705 miles from 45 rides which gives me an average of 60.11 miles per ride!

First non-commute ride of any distance on my first ebike. Banks-Vernonia trail.

Obligatory trestle photo (probably a state law that a photo must be taken here :) )
IMG_1139.jpg

The ride from Banks to Vernonia in the morning was not without its obstacles. Had to go under the first and over the second. Two hours later on my way back, both obstacles had been cleared from the trail and it was smooth sailing.

A more typical scene along the wooded portion of the trail.

Some pictures from our rides this summer. Riding some trails on the Oregon coastline and also in the Tehachapi mountains in California.

Today was our last day of good weather so I made the most of it with a very enjoyable 70 miles with lots of ups and downs, with over 5,300 ft of climbing! I'm so lucky to have such amazing roads so close to home, I don't think I will ever tire of riding them :D I noticed I now have 19,942 miles on my gps, only 58 miles to reach 20,000 miles covered since the end of 2011, all going well I should do it on my next ride :)

“Tis but a scratch!”

Flat pedals by any chance? I’ve got a few dents like that as well.
No, actually SPD clipless. The problem was too steep of a rocky climb and I couldn't release fast enough. I also scratched my new bike and it won't heal as my leg eventually will. :(

Finally got myself and my Vado out into the countryside again.
It’s actually really easy as Stockholm is not a big city and half an hour on a commuter train can be enough to land you in the spinach but too often I have a problem deciding where to go.
Anyway, yesterday I took the train from a nearby station and travelled north for 38 minutes ( about 45-50km) and started cycling at 14.30
Various types of roads. First 32km on asphalt, then 6-7km on gravel or forrest roads and then asphalt again for the last 30-32km to return home. Was a bit tired after these 70km. Need to get out more.
Used Eco mode almost all of the time except for some inclines where I ran Sport mode. (less than 5% of total distance) Started with 88% charge and finished at 43% so I used 45% of a 604Wh battery for 70km.

The sign on next photo is a bit ”ambiguos” as it means no vehicular traffic but in Sweden bicycles are allowed on private roads like this. The additional text sign says there is a gate or barrier up ahead somewhere to inform you that you won’t get through.
I usually try when on a bicycle :)

From last photo point I had about 5km of countryside riding and then 20km through residential areas and general outskirts of the city.

It was a warm September afternoon being the last day of summer, 17-19°C (62-66°F)
Not so warm when I arrived home just sfter sunset.

What a green a beautiful part of the world you live in. It is no wonder there are so many people of Nordic heritage here in Western Washington state (my wife's mother's maiden name is Rasmussen). The countryside looks very similar. We are at almost 49 degrees north latitude, not quite as far north as Stockholm but our position is similar relative the the ocean to our west and the warm water currents that create more rain than snow despite how far north we are.

Nice day in NH it has warmed up temp in the 70's.
Some trees are starting to turn but full foliage has not arrived.
