We recently moved from the Peninsula to the North Bay Area in California. I’ll miss some of the rugged coast we used to ride but I’m absolutely floored by the hills especially after a little bit of rain to bring out the greenery.

Wow, I’m envious of where you ride. It’s cold and the surroundings look a bit desiccated here due to the lack of snow but we’re making the best of what we have. Some trail action from a few days ago.

See, I look at where you ride and I wish I could ride there, too.
We definitely don’t lack trails around here but not that many with awesome tree cover and mixed terrain unless I go to MTB specific spots…and my bike would be major underbiking. And I don’t mind underbiking but I’d be holding everyone up.

When you put it that way, I can’t really grumble especially with some of the trails that we are blessed with in our small community. That being said, I yearn for the warm summer days when I could just strap on my helmet, shorts and knee pads and just have at her. Bulky winter clothing, boots and winter helmets take some of the fun out of it but that’s winter biking on the Alberta prairies, I guess. The grass is always greener on the other side…of the border that is.

I live in the Southwest and lots of old homesteader cabins and camping trails to explore on an ebike. I do some rockhounding, treasure hunting and fishing and the trailer is great for hauling my dog and gear around on my adventures.

As long as you are on BLM land you can collect rocks in certain areas. Lots of places where you can rockhound here.

I think it is Bureau of Land Management. One of my pals from high school has worked for them forever...

Cabins you are making, are they from trees on the property? Or are they trucked in.

Bureau of Land Management. That is Federal land.

Cabins I design are not built from logs. Milled lumber and lots of recycled materials.

Got caught in the rain today but had a great time and was able to test my new rim brake pads which did awesome in the rain. At least as good as mechanical disc and pretty close to hydraulic disc with not much, if any, noticable fade on long fast descents.

This spot along a river trail that I ride is one of my favorite places to just stop and hang out. There’s a stark beauty about it that keeps me coming back. Today ride was no exception once the sun disappeared under cover.

I would think that shoveling here is less of a strain on body parts than it is heaving that moisture laden snow that you folks receive. Mind you its highly unlikely that it sticks around for very long.

Good on you for letting your son borrow your e-bike and then for picking him up.

Sloppy is the word!
That nicely fluffy stuff you get would be another story, but this cr@p is dangerous. Looking at the sidewalks and curbsides I knew it would be a slippery disaster. Spikey tires would just be metal on wet pavement.
But... he's starting to think an ebike would be a good buy. Ding!
