Shimano steps e6000 display bracket locking tab broke

As the title says, the little black plastic tab that you push down on to release the display is broken. The display still slides into place and everything works but of course now it will not lock in place. Dealer is sending a new display bracket at no charge but warned that the two wires going into the display bracket are a tight press fit and warned that I could ruin the bracket if I wasn't careful. I've tugged on the wires a little and they are really tight. Next step would be to try needle nose pliers but I'd hate to crush the connectors and ruin the bracket or the wires. Has anyone replaced this bracket and if so, could you advise the best way to go about it?

Hi DDBB,
You will need Shimano Plug Tool TL-EW02 (item 10) http://si.shimano.com/pdfs/ev/EV-TL-EW02-3637B.pdf
My LBS gave me the tool after they finished installing and setting up the Steps E8000 on my ebike when I took delivery
I have attached some photos if you decide to make one yourself
