Seat posts!

After a couple of 20k rides my back is wrecked!

Did some research and today have ordered a Suntour SP-12 suspension post. $120 on Amazon AU.

Hopefully this will restore some of the enjoyment to my rides!

Has anyone else upgraded? Or the forks (which are very basic).

I would like to see how you like it. I am short (5'6") and I have the Moscow Plus and the seat is almost all the way down and my leg extension feels good, I am curious how low it would go.

I'm using Cane Creek Thudbuster which is better suspension seatpost than the Suntour. I believe they are around the same price on Amazon. I bought mine for around $120.

Hmmm.

I'm not even going to ask why it's "better" - unless you're a qualified expert and want to talk me through the engineering and science.

It's a matter of personal choice - I chose the Suntour.

You're right in that it's somewhat subjective. I'm using the word "better" based on reviews of people that's tried both. If Suntour works for you then great.

It's not bad for $60 + tax on amazon but I found the spring too tight for me at 185 pounds. I ended up getting the kinekt from Selle Anatomica for $187.50 after 25% off coupon. I found the extra $125 investment worth it, might be harder for this miser to rationalize at full price. I plan to give the Satori to my buddy who weighs 100+ pounds more. It will probably work better for him.

I'm a big guy about 270 and I have the Satori and am very happy with it. I haven't used any other suspension post so can't give an opinion as to which one is best it's probably a personal thing anyway. For me the Satori does a fine job soaking up potholes, cracks in the pavement, and tree rooted bumps in bike paths and that's all I need it for.

I have an NCM Moscow this is the replacement post I brought, would think it is the same as the Prauge.

wheelsON Zoom Suspension Seatpost ø 30.9mm Length 350mm Black

I have The Moscow Plus and it’s 30.9mm. I replaced the one that came with the bike with a redshift shockstop suspension Seatpost. I also needed to buy a Seatpost shim, 27.2 to fit it. It cost a lot of money but, I think it’s worth it.

I have the suntour post on my mid-drive, and I like it. I'm a big guy at 300lbs, so I'm not sure how long it will last, but no concerns yet. It's a fat tire bike, so between the seat post and the tires, it's pretty cushy. Not quite as good as my old Norco VPS DH bike, but definitely extends my ride ranges by a significant margin. I also like the fact that I can run 'less' seat with the suspension post and maintain the comfort level of my other bike with a giant barstool of a gel seat on a rigid post.

I do want to upgrade the front suspension though. Again, I was spoiled for years by my Marzochi and Rockshox Air shocks on my other bikes, but the options in the fat tire space are limited (but improving). A simple curb drop or pothole is plenty tolerable with the stock springer, but with hydro/air, it's an absolute pleasure, lol

I fitted a Sun tour seat post yesterday and gave it a run out all good deffo smooths the bumps out I have a NCM Prague. I got it second hand £40 all works good

Take a look at the Satori Animaris... the best combination of value and quality I have found. ;)
