Schwalbe Eddy Current tire vs Nobby Nic

I’ve ridden Nobby Nics a long time and find they give excellent traction and durability. Only issue is rear grip on uphill, loose terrain. One ride near home is always a fail as the rear washes out. Enter the new Eddy Current! Just arrived today so it’s not yet on the rear but it looks like a beast. I can’t wait to blow up my Waterloo hill! Only rears were available so I’ll run Nobby Nics on the front and Eddy Currents on the rear - that may be how I ride going forward since I like my Nobby Nics on the front. Anybody ridden with these yet? See attached picture with my spare Nobby on the bottom and the beastly Eddy Current on the top. Yowza!

Got my Eddy (rear version) from bike-discount.de back in Oct, and it's awesome (they sold out FAST)! Tacky, chunky, and seems like it's built to last (less than 50 trail miles so far - installed Ice Spikers for the Winter). Stiffest sidewalls I've ever seen.

I run Nobby Nics, too, but found that the old "Pace Star Snakeskin" versions wore out very quickly on the rear (Trail Star was ever worse, in my experience, but OK in front). Hoping the new compounds are better!

How have sidewalls held up? That’s the real downfall in my area (NJ) due to rocks. Nobby Nics are the only ones I’ve found to hold up. Hopefully Eddy Current sidewalls are as beefy as the tread. Would love to hear your experience.

Feel the sidewall of your new Current, then the Nic. Feels to me like the Current's at least 10% thickerer... Like I said, not too many miles on mine yet and I mostly ride flowy singletrack, not too rocky.

How's your Eddy Current (rear) working out, @racer cletus? I've done about 60 miles on mine so far, and except for mounting them on my 40mm rims (which was very difficult), I love it!

Today I did some rockier trails, and that's where it shines IMO. Superior grip for climbing steep rock face than any tires I've experienced - Maxxiz Hi Roller II and Rekon+ came close, but the rear Current blows away my Nobby Nic and Rocket Ron.
