Rohloff vs. SA 3 Speed

I ride in virtually flat coastline areas exclusively. That said, does the Rohloff offer me an virtues? I appreciate it has "a lot more gears." I'm likely losing a little from the top end. But is their any reliability maintenance issues I'm not fully appreciating? Or anything else?

There are a lot cheaper options that may suit your use case other than a Rohloff
Shimano Nexus 3SP & 8SP, Alfine 8SP & 11SP, E bike specific 5SP

I'm looking at buying a bike that comes with the Rohloff "standard" but offered the SA at a $600 discount... This is my option.

Not sure what you mean here. For your needs, I don't think you would need the gear range of the Rohloff and SA should more than meet your needs. UC Pro has a SA option.

I'm buying the "Titanium Frame - Limited Edition" which comes with the Rohloff as standard. They offered to substitute SA for a $600 credit. As you say, I don't believe I need the extra gearing either. Perhaps I'll miss a little top end performance? Is the durability / maintenance similiar?

Durability is definitely not similar. Rohloff is a tank compared to SA maybe being a jeep. :) If you're already plunking down thousands,$600 savings is not worth it IMO.

I love the sa on my bbshd build, but if someone had a Rohloff for 600, I would have never looked at the sa.

Let me get this straight, you are offered $600 for the same bike if you downgrade from rohloff to SA3?

If that is the case no. Rohloff upgrade is worth way more than $600 and it makes a very big difference.

I don't want to slag the deal WW is giving you but in the sales configuration the up-charge to the Rohloff is $1100
You do the math.....
