Rear axle feels rough...

On the bike stand, and slowly spinning the rear wheel, I feel some roughness. It is uniform, and not huge, but definitely noticeable.
It is unrelated to the chain drive, as it is rough with the chain totally disengaged
My wife's Pace 500 step-through does not seem to have this problem, hers spins smoothly.

I pulled the wheel, thinking I would check the axle bearings, but of course it is a hub motor and I have zero experience with those!

Any ideas on what this might be?
I'd like to diagnose it, in case it turns out to be a warranty issue.
