Programing a Bafang G062 Rear Hub, or buy a new controller?

Hi all - nice to become part of this community, which has already been really helpful. I'm in the UK.
My Lishui controller has died, as did my display. I've ordered a DPC18 display, and controller which have arrived, but the controller (shown in the second photo below), gives full power from the motor even on PAS 1.

I've got a programming cable which I have used to program my middrive BBSHD, but that cable/software doesn't want to read the hub, so I can't change the PAS settings. Note that the new controller uses a torque sensor, whereas the Lishui had a three pin wheel magnet sensor. The Lisihui label has scratched pretty badly, but it looks like this:

The replacement controller I purchased is this:

Questions:
1) Is it possible to program the replacement controller with the normal mid drive bafang cable, or do I need something else?
2) Have I even bought the right controller?
3) If I've bought the wrong controller, can someone please send a link to the correct one?

I've never seen or even heard of a Bafang geared hub controller. Regardless, (learn something new every day!) I can share that your cable needs to talk with the controller, not the motor. The controller would hold all the settings/parameters. The motor has none of that. Just FYI.....

If it were me, I would be looking for an owner's manual specific to THAT controller. I doubt seriously anything more generic will be of any use

Thanks. I think when I said "read the hub", I should have said "doesn't want to read the controller (connected to the hub)". Not been able to get a response from the new controller's manufacturer, but will try again.
 
If you haven't already, you might want to ask the seller for more info, or possibly a suggestion where you might look?

If it's a model YCSYxxx-xxx-48T series controller, then it won't be programmable through the BBSXX programming cable. What you want is an LD-AK-xxx controller which appears to be programmable. I say "appears" because, while I have connected my LD-AK-011 (750W/Bafang H640 motor) controller to my laptop and read the parameters, I haven't tried to save them. I'll do that once I mount the motor which is still a couple weeks out.

Anyhow, another member faced a similar predicament last fall and had success with programming his Bafang fat motor with the BBSXX cable. He learned that his controller was in fact programmable and was able to tone down the PAS level. See this thread:

I'm guessing he got this kit off Amazon:

Try reaching out to @Hector6150 for the specific controller model no. and vendor on Amazon.

If you don't hear back, I would contact Greenergia the seller of the Bafang fat motor kit and ask to buy only the controller. And make sure the model is LD-AK-xxx series.

I replied to him. I think I've sent him in the right direction. I could program my old controller just fine, but it never gave me any torque that I thought I should have been getting. I converted mine to KT system and love it! I got some serious power for those hills now, I just blow by everyone pedalling up😂
 
Does anyone have any idea why this controller will not work with my bafang rear hub motor 48v 750w, all connectors are good but when I turn the pedal for assistance one rotation turns on the motor then it stops although the sensor is blinking red the motor will not re-engage until the motor slows to nearly a stop.
no errors on the DPC18 Bafang display I've tried 6 magnets on the assist but the same thing any ideas please .

hi I have the same controller my question is the 3-pin waterproof connector on the controller is it the connection for the pedal assist

THE CONTROLER you have i have also will this controller work with G62 REAR HUB MOTOR 750WATT

Please help me i need the pedal assist sensor that's compatible with this controller.

Hi, please. Does anybody know which pedal assist sensor is compatible with this controller and where I can purchase
 
hi have programmed my controller but it still does not turn over instantly, for example, if I'm at the traffic lights and I stop when I begin to pedal my motor will not turn until I have pedalled at least 4 revolutions and then the motor begins to engage, I have slow start mode set to 1 keep current to 80%current delay set to 8. why is it so slow on my motor to engage would it have anything to do with the pedal assist sensor I can't get my motor to engage instantly without at least 4 turns of the crank. the picture is not the actual settings only an example any help on the best settings to get my bike to react instantly would be much appreciated

Try changing your PAS sensor type selection.
It is set to 12 magnets double signal so the controller is expecting to see 24 pulses with one revolution of the cranks.

You might have a 5 magnet PAS sensor with 5 pulses per revolution and it would need ~5 complete crank revolutions to produce 24 pulses, and if you aren't pedaling fast enough, the controller may think you have stopped pedaling and turn off the motor.

You also have your start current at 10% so when the motor kicks in, you're only getting 10% power.
Turn that up as well.
 
Sorry if I don't understand it if I'm correct should I set pedal sensor type to DH-12 because I have a 12 magnet ring or do I set pedal sensor type to Doublesignal-24
 
I just change the pedal sensor to Doublesignal-24 it works and I turned the % up from 10 to 20% so I'll test it tomorrow morning,thank you sir for the tip.

If you do have a 12 magnet ring, then try the DH-12 setting.
If you have it set to Doublesignal-24, then you would probably need twice as much crank rotation to activate the motor.

You could even select a 4,5,6, or 8 magnet PAS sensor to reduce the crank rotation amount, but be aware that if you bump your pedals while stopped, your ebike could take off on you.

Always have a brake applied while stopped to prevent that.
Most hub drives have brake cut-off switches that kill the motor.
 
I have never used that programming setup, so I'm just speculating, but you have your start up current set to 20%, so when your motor kicks in, it's only at 20% power.

If you want full power from a stop for fast acceleration, then turn it up.
Try 100% if it's an option and see what you think.

Oh ok so I should set the pedal sensor back to DH-12

Just play with that setting and set it to how you like it.
You're not going to wreck anything.

If you set your PAS sensor to maybe 5 magnets and your start current to 100%, and turn off your "slow start mode" (or turn it up or down all the way. I don't know which.) you'll end up with a twitchy e-bike that goes to full power with the slightest movement of the pedals.
That may be what you want?

Adjust your settings to where you like it.

Just be careful while testing and keep your hand on the brake lever to kill the motor, so things don't get out of hand.
 
Back
