Hello, I'm a new member and have coverted four bikes over the last ten years. First problem:

Had to replace a damaged display unit recently and obtained a S866 which seemed popular with reasonable reviews. Problems is it will not cut power when on 0 assist. Have done factory resets and tried every variable programme option. Put the damaged one back on and no problem (albeit broken mount.) Set up is: Cyclotricity front hub motor, 36v, 250w, bottom bracket PAS sensor. Has anyone here experienced this problem.

Hi Eden, i personally haven't had that problem... i hope you find a solution soon, for now, just wanna welcome you to the forum ;c

You're saying the S866 plugs in, powers up, and the bike runs? Questions.
1. What runs? Do both throttle and pedal assist work?
2. Does the display display the speed when the bike runs
3, When you change pedal assist levels, do you feel a difference?
4. Are both displays S866

If both displays are S866, check the display settings are identical. You can set P09 so the throttle is active all the time. You can also set P10 for throttle only, Pedal assist only, or both,

If the bike is running on pedal assist while the display says level 0, I would guess that the original display was not an S866.

Displays and controllers have to have the same communications proctocol to communicate, However, both use standardized plugs these days, so it's possible to plug in a display that won't talk to the controller, When this happens, the display powers up and will allow you to change its settings. Meanwhile, the controller powers up but doesn't recognize the display. Often, they will default to a single PAS level with throttle enabled. The bike will run, but only have one PAS level and the display will usually show 0 for speed.
