Pace 500/350 Assembly Tips

Good thing robrob chimed in. From the photo to me it looked like part of the plastic piece used to cover the axle during shipping. So it is a torque washer? Does not seem well designed. if it is so easily broken off.
 
Looks like it is there for shipping. There's a slot opposite the tab, so it can easily be pulled out. The torque washer is underneath.
 
BTW, don't know why, but my 350 came partially assembled. The rear wheel, brake calipers and derailleur were already installed.
 
Hello all ! I hope you're doing good and enjoying your bikes :) I'm having an issue at assembly with the screw used to attach the derailleur to the frame. I'm attaching a few pictures, I'm not sure if the screw is broken or not ? Looks like maybe one of the tabs is broken and therefore I'm struggling to snap it back in the hole.... any recommendations ? Thank you so much for your help !

Hi Rob, thank you for all of your posts... tremendously helpful. As a side note, I don't think they are shipping water bottle holders with the 500s anymore. Just received 500 full frame and a step thru and neither had one in the box. I'm new to disc brakes. The rear is very soft. Have to almost fully squeeze it to get any stopping power. What's the best way to adjust it? Don't want to tighten/loosen the wrong thing. Also, how do I check/add mineral oil to the brakes? Thanks.
 
Hey finz, there is a small hex bolt where the brake lever meets the brake lever mount that adjusts the position of the lever--you can move it out or in closer to the handlebar. If that doesn't do it then you probably need to have the brake bled. You'll need a bleed kit with the right reservoir adapter and mineral oil brake fluid to do it but a bike shop can do it pretty inexpensively.
 
If your seat post is slipping you can clean the seat post of any grease and tighten the seat post clamp bolt that's on the opposite side of the clamping lever. You want that bolt tight enough that it's so hard to close the clamp that you can barely do it by hand.

Thanks for the response. The range of the brake lever is OK. I think you're right about bleeding the brakes. It feels more like there may be air in there. I found a bleed kit on line that should fit the Zoom brakes. Found a couple of good videos on YouTube and a good set of step by steps on WooshBikes. It looks like it's within my wheelhouse. If I don't get the result I'm looking for I'll take it to a LBS. Thanks again. I really enjoy your posts.
