. . . and usually everyone here says to buy from your LBS so you'll have support when you have problems - You go back to the shop you bought from for warranty repairs. You paid more because you did that, but now you have the same lack of support you would have had if you'd bought online and saved the $$$. That's really sad. I would post the name of the store to save the next guy from the same predicament
Don
alphacarina, how many people get to read those negative reports? They don't read about Rad Power Bikes.
I purchased from Natko on line store. They thanked me. The next day I got an e-mail from AMAZON that it was shipped. From Chicago to California, to California, to Chicago and then to me in Appleton, WI. I cut open the box and assembled it while charging the battery. The handle bars wouldn't lock down and the seat was broken but I had what was needed. Found directions of operations on the net. After getting it started all I did was touch the pedal and it took off at 8mph and crashed on the grass. Testing leaned over on the side stand it did the same and the brakes wouldn't shut it off. Found how to change it over to just the throttle. It did the same with the throttle. Now it's totally disfunctionable.
I contacted them about it's very dangerous operation and went back to the control module and checked all connections. Some were disconnected. Got the brakes to shut of the motor but it still would take off at 8mph when touching the pedals or throttle. They told me it was probably my fault and said I had to contact AMAZON for assistance. Even with full descriptions and pictures of the defective electronics they didn't understand what I was talking about. What can you expect from AMAZON? After much conversations Natko agreed to send me a replacement for $50 (nice warranty service). But it doesn't work and they didn't send a replacement control pod.
And now they again say I must contact AMAZON for warranty work. There advertisement now say if you buy from someone else that establishment covers the warranty. All I ask for was a replacement control pod that mounts on the handle bars. AMAZON will not have such.
Seeing that many different dealers handle bikes from the same manufacturer can I get a control module from someone else? The control box is Model #050086 for OX model 20" folding bike with 48Volts. That's been replaced. They didn't send a new control pad on the bars. Model; LCD-S861 S/N;605436 201067. Oddly there's a little sticker that shows
36V on it. Is that bad with a 48 volt battery?
The local shops won't sell or service mopeds with functional throttles. They are still legal. But for how long? Do to war injuries I can't pedal or walk for much.
