I just received tracking information on a pair of Ride1up 700 bikes for my SO and me. Neither of us have owned a bike for 20 years and I’m pretty excited to get started.

I even went a little overboard and ordered a few too many items from Park Tool to prepare for assembly and maintenance.

I’ve never ridden an ebike but I’m looking forward to getting out there! It seems like Wausau and the surrounding communities have a good signed trail network.

Please let us know how you like the bike. I read considering the same one as you

I can definitely do that. I have two on the way, the XR for me and the ST for my girlfriend. I would have probably gotten the ST as well but I’m probably a little too tall.

After looking through the options out there and watching the YouTube interviews with Kevin Dugger Ride1up seemed like the best option.

This weekend I assembled the bikes. I took my time and watched parts of the assembly video, parts of the Park Tool derailleur tuning video, and did plenty of double checking the fastener pictures and torque recommendations from the manual. There is enough information to assemble the bikes at home if you look at the sources provided. It would be nice if there was a comprehensive all in one assembly guide but I understand the rationale of trying to start a relationship with a local bike shop.

I screwed up a few times along the way but learned a little from each bike and I even went back to the first bike to apply a few of the lessons from bike number two.

I love these bikes. It turns out that I could ride either frame style but the bigger frame definitely suits me better. They are a ridiculous amount of fun. I’m a big guy but this bike moves. I will probably end up with about 50 miles after this first weekend. I wanted a bike that could get me out to explore the trail network near me and to do some local errands. This thing delivers. I can ramp up the difficulty at my pace and at the time of my choosing. I’m nearly 50 and that sounds like the perfect way to get me back out there!

The few negatives:
The front brake rotors were slightly bent on both bikes. This caused a slight rubbing noise. Fortunately I had picked up a rotor trueing fork and it was pretty easy to fix.

I had a squeak coming from the front hub on one bike. I pulled back the cover and added some trilube.

There are a few minor paint blemishes on both bikes. Has anyone from the forum gone to a major retailer and gotten some color match codes? Model paint maybe?

TLDR:
Love at first bike!
