Lever adjustment with hydraulic brakes?

Hello,

This has probably been asked before but could not find a thread. I notice that the brake levers on my e-Bike travel a little more than what I would like before the hydraulic brakes engage. How do you adjust the levers when there is no cable?

I should have mentioned that the brakes are Shimano

Don't if this was resolved or if it's any help, but

You more than likely have a bit of air in the system and they need bleeding. This can be done quite easily without having to replace all the fluid and there are lots of Youtube vids on how to accomplish this for Shimano brakes. That is the only way to increase the lever action on hydraulic brakes. Also check you brake pads to see if they have any life left in them because when they get close to the end of their serviceable life it can cause the levers to feel mushy.

Depending on which exact model Shimano Brake levers you have there is either an adjustment screw that takes a 2mm hex or a knob to adjust the distance of the lever from the handlebar. You need to have it close enough to grab reliably when you want to brake but far enough away to where, when you pull the lever to brake hard, there is just enough room for your fingers between the lever and the handlebar without pinching your fingers or not being able to brake at full strength when needed.
