The manufacturer blurb about shackle thickness is: "The bike lock with thickness(including rubber casing):14mm,250mm x 150mm U shack to lock and go!" INCLUDING RUBBER CASING!!! I've never heard of a lock referred to that way and I take it as a warning about the quality.

Also, if you look at the pictures posted by reviewers that say the lock saved their bike, they're phony pictures. No thief worth his salt attacks a u-bolt lock with a hacksaw or sawzall.

Like I mentioned, my security needs are in an RV park, many of them gated, not much worry there. A lock only keeps an honest person honest. If I was going to NYC, that lock would not even be a consideration. I am not going to be carrying 3 locks to go riding on park trails, then come back to the RV Park. Others needs maybe totally different, mine are not and mentioned in the post. Nothing wrong with better locks.

I have a u-lock as well which is 9" but since I only leave the bike to run into a store I find that a good cable lock is easier to use and gives me many more options to secure the bike. Since there is no front tire quick release I usually just go through the rear tire and the frame before I lock to something. My lock is 6' long and 1/2" thick and uses a regular Schlage 5 pin key which is known to be a little more resistant to lock picking. I also get rid of the seat quick release and install a bolt to try and make the seat/seatpost harder to steal. I've never had a bike or seat stolen, I just try to make it more difficult to grab than the bike beside me and never leave it for more than a few minutes, most thieves are too lazy to work hard and just grab whatever is easiest! (I hope...)

I was kinda disappointed to see that it was an old-school threaded steerer tube on the fork with a jam nut on the stem. Just like a kids department store bike. I don't remember seeing any threaded suspension forks when I was searching. if they do have them, they're going to be the same low rent department store quality. Totally bogus.

on a lighter note, did you notice there's a serial number stamped on the top of your head tube, you can see it if you zoom in right above the logo?

I haven't changed out the standard one yet. But I'll probably look at it at some point. I figger there are two types of lights. The one you turn on so everyone can see you, and the one you turn on to actually see where you're going in the dark (like a commuter). I just need the first kind so I'm happy enough with the stock one. Maybe when it starts getting dark at 4pm I'll change my mind.

You must have a different generation of XP since your headlight is so different. I just noticed that the white reflective tape I put on the side turns into quite the lightshow with a flash.

I'm not convinced that you can remove the current headset cups to install the threadless headset. At best they're painted on. They can't be aluminum, but they seem to be included in the frame welds.

I would have loved to put few hundred miles on the bike before winter kicks in; but that seems unlikely now. However, I am excited to see how the fat tire performs in the snowy mountains of Colorado. Its gonna be fun.

Better buy the battery now, not sure how long before they start shipping out spare batteries, I know there is a few people including myself, that have bought spare batteries and have not had them shipped yet, I know there trying to get bikes to everyone that ordered, so I will be patient and give them a chance to catch up.

I checked out that link and saw some of what looks like the same battery size and shape, but some higher amp-hour options: 11.6, 12.8 and 14. Checking deeper into the details, I did see three battery sizes by "type" - Type A measures of 370x96x40mm, and then two sizes for Type B: 410x103x43mm and 430x103x43. But I don't see anything that links each AH rating to a particular battery size type. And I am wondering what the stock, 10.4 AH battery size dimensions may be for the one that ships with the bike (my bike is still due to be delivered in a few days). I also wonder how the onboard electronics would handle any different AH rating, or not. My gut feeling is that the answer would be: Stick with the stock battery power capabilities, and just buy a second backup battery for to be able to ride a longer distance" But it still was interesting to see this particular LG battery size and shape does come in a variety of AH options. I have not seen it sold too many other places online.

It's bigger than I imaged it would be. The outside measures 14 1/4" by 7 1/2". It's heavier than I imaged too. It's an impressive beast but I have to admit, the also highly rated Krytonite Evolution Mini https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XZT8KZ1?tag=thewire06-20&linkCode=xm2&ascsubtag=AwEAAAAAAAAAAVxq might have been a better choice. That is - if it fits.

I don't have a bike to test it on yet. Does anybody have any pics showing their lock in action?

Krytonite and Abus are highest rating for quality, both have the same ratings for lock picking and breaking into, both are about the same in price also.
