I started learning English at age of 15. 48 years of learning turned out to be insufficient...
Still, I can remember my first English lesson at the secondary school. We were told our names in English by the teacher, made labels with our English first names, and learned pronouncing them. Just think "Betty" was hard for me, as the Polish "T" doesn't sound like the English one!

I think a lot of people believe just because someone is English, they have it covered.
I didnt take English past my early teens, I have little grasp of formal writing, you can probably tell.
But we have chat gpt now so no problem.

In fact my bad spelling and grammar, will be quite the prize soon...until chat gpt learns to make mistakes.

I followed the New Wave of British Ska when it was new (Of course Symarip was the first wave of the music).
The Selecter being my favourite!

Ska has always been the British thing I think (even if it comes from Jamaica).

I went to see the Ska /Two Tone band 'Bad Manners' at my mates club about 30 years ago.
It was a mosh pit, what a scream.

Its hard to day if the Blues brothers got the style from the Specials or vice versa, anyway they have adpoted the Dan Akroyd moves, but everyone is old now.

Can you recognise this guy? (10 years ago!)

I think it was 2010 when I was driving my vintage Volvo station-wagon dressed as a Blues Brother at 2 a.m. on the outskirts of Warsaw. I was stopped by a police patrol. The cop just looked at me and weakly said: "Off you go, sir..."
