It's also weird to me that people treat these higher speeds like a hypothetical. A BBS02 can easily push you up to ~32 mph and BBSHD can do 40 mph depending upon the setup. If you have non-trivial experience riding a bike and driving a car it should be pretty obvious that things like riding on the sidewalk at 40 mph or any other pedestrian path is straight up suicidal. That kind of speed is really reserved for when you're riding on the street with cars. There are often bike lanes in these streets but that really, really doesn't do much to reduce your risk because there's zero grade separation.
